Another Retro Birthday

I'm designing cards for a couple upcoming workshops and a birthday card stamp-a-stack. I wanted to use a Sale-A-Bration set to make a quick and easy card for a workshop. I thought this sketch from this week's Retro Sketches challenge blog would fill the bill.



I started with a square of Birthday Bash Specialty Series Paper that I backed with a square of Night of Navy. I stamped the sentiment from the "Big Day" stamp set in Bermuda Bay. I flagged the ends of both banners with the Hexagon Punch. I added a button from the Sale-A-Bration Best Year Ever Accessory Kit and tied it with a length of Whisper White Baker's Twine. I added a birthday cake image in Night of Navy to complete the card.

A Fab Birthday

Yay! I'm so excited that the Fab Friday challenge blog is back. The design crew took a much needed break over the holidays and I've been stalking the blog for their return! They're back with a color challenge!

 

I love these colors--and they're the same colors in the Stacked With Love DSP pack, so it was easy to start with one of the sheets in the pack. Since I missed the Valentine's Day mark, I decided I needed to make a quick and easy birthday card. I'm trying to do better at actually sending cards to people for their birthdays instead of making cards and then never getting around to mailing them. I'm using an online reminder service: www.birthdayalarm.com.  It's free and it gives you a reminder a week before the person's birthday and then 3 days before their birthday. (Thanks to Lyssa Zwolanek for the idea!)

Clean & Simple Big Day

I'm in the process of planning some workshops and a birthday card stamp-a-stack, so I'm trying out some ideas. There are plenty of birthday stamp sets in the Occasions catalog to choose from. There's even a really cool set in the Sale-A-Bration catalog: "Big Day!"

I kept this one really simple. I stamped the main image from the "Big Day" stamp set onto Whisper White and punched it with the 2-1/2" Circle Punch. I mounted this onto a circle of Night of Navy that I with the 2-3/4" circle from the Circle Framelits Collection.

I used a strip of Birthday Bash designer series paper and a length of Calypso Coral Ribbon from the Best Year Ever Accessory pack. I also added a button from the Best Year Every Accessory pack, which I tied with Whisper White Bakers Twine.  This is all mounted on a mat of Old Olive card stock and then onto a Calypso Coral card base.

Simple and cute!
