Ombre Baby Bumblebee

Oh my gosh! The sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog is so simple that it almost threw me for a loop. What in the world would I do with that??!!

Then I took a look at the wonderful cards the design team created and I saw that the sketch was almost anything goes--as long as it had the ribbon element at the top and remained clean and simple!!

I've been dying to use the totes adorbs "Baby Bumblebee" stamp with my Blendabilities. I thought this stamp would be really cute with an ombre-style using the light, medium, and dark of any Blendabilities set. I chose to use Calypso Coral--because I just got them in an order!! I also used the Skin Tone Blendabilities on the baby's face and wings.

I love, love, love the Calypso Coral seam binding ribbon, so I simply attached a length to the top of the card and tied a simple knot in the middle. I used a glue dot to pull the center of the ribbon down a little bit...just 'cause I wanted to see how that would look.

This card was so quick to pull together and I think it's really cute!! What do you think??

Nacho Color Challenge Birthday

When I first saw the color combo on this week's Nacho Average Challenge blog, I thought that I couldn't come up with anything. These colors just weren't calling to me. But I persevered and thought outside my comfortable box.

I started with a Tangelo Twist card base and added a Basic Gray panel. Then I went in search of some DSP in Crush Curry. The Best Year Ever DSP that you can earn for FREE during Sale-A-Bration with a qualifying purchase has a sweet Crushed Curry sheet.

I tried a little something different: I punch a tag from the DSP using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. Next, I punched another tag in Whisper White and stamped three balloons from the "Balloon Bash" set in the Nacho color combo. I added a sentiment from the "And Many More" set in Basic Gray to the DSP label.

I added a Tangelo Twist Ribbon and some Basic Rhinestones to finish the design.

I think these colors are masculine enough to use for a man's birthday card--even with the ribbon and bling!

Another Retro Birthday

I'm designing cards for a couple upcoming workshops and a birthday card stamp-a-stack. I wanted to use a Sale-A-Bration set to make a quick and easy card for a workshop. I thought this sketch from this week's Retro Sketches challenge blog would fill the bill.

I started with a square of Birthday Bash Specialty Series Paper that I backed with a square of Night of Navy. I stamped the sentiment from the "Big Day" stamp set in Bermuda Bay. I flagged the ends of both banners with the Hexagon Punch. I added a button from the Sale-A-Bration Best Year Ever Accessory Kit and tied it with a length of Whisper White Baker's Twine. I added a birthday cake image in Night of Navy to complete the card.

Sweet Pastel Thank You

I hadn't used the 2013-2015 In Colors in a while and I kind of missed them. Yesterday I pulled out some Pistachio Pudding card stock and remembered how pretty it is. I've used it for today's card as well as the great sketch on the CAS(e) This Sketch challenge blog.

I also used Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush card stock from the 2013-2015 in colors. These sweet pastels go so well together. I used the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder to add some texture to the Whisper White panel and the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder to add texture to the Crisp Cantaloupe stripe.

I love the Petite Petals set and matching punch! I thought a few Strawberry Slush flowers with Basic Pearl centers would complete the design.

Sweet Pastel Birthday

I had something else in mind when I started this card. I was designing it in my head all day long. When I got home I reviewed the sketch at the Create with Connie & Mary Challenge blog, I saw those three little dots/elements and realized my design didn't quite meet the mark. No problem--I can use that design another time.

CCMC343

I started with a sweet pastel color scheme: Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush, Wild Wasabi, Pink Pirouette, and Whisper White. I like the way the Honeycomb embossing folder coordinates with the Hexagon Punch. The punched images are a bit larger, but I think that helps the design. I like the little punch of Basic Black for the sentiment from the "And Many More" greetings stamp set.

So pretty (if I do say so myself) and so quick and easy!
