Another Fab Baby

#stampinup  I usually have about an hour or two in the evenings to get a card designed and created and photographed and blogged about it. Today was a mad rush to get lots of things done. I worked my 9-5 job, left a couple of hours early, took my son to the dentist, picked up a prescription at the doctor's office, made my kids dinner at Chik Fil-A, picked up my hubby at the tire repair shop, had dinner with hubby, dropped him back at the repair shop, came home, spent 20 minutes designing and prepping this card, took my son to soccer practice until 10 PM, rushed home and put the card together, and now it's 11 PM and I'm blogging. All in a day's work, right?

So with that in mind, I needed a quick and easy design to work from and the sketch at this week's Fab Friday challenge blog was just the ticket! I decided to use the "Baby Bumblebee" stamp because I love it and because it retires on June 2nd--and it's a big ol' stamp that would fit well with this quick design.

I inked up the stamp in Baked Brown Sugar (also retiring--and probably sold out by now) and then used a baby wipe to omit the sentiment. I stamped the image onto a piece of Whisper White card stock and cut it out with an Oval Framelit. I adhered this to a Hello Honey oval cut from the next size Oval Framelit.

I used a Coastal Cabana card base (also retiring) and embossed it with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder (NOT retiring!!) and added a strip of Lullaby designer series paper (you guessed it: retiring). I added the oval assembly to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Next I stamped just the sentiment onto a strip of Whisper White card stock. I flagged the end with the Banner Punch. I adhered this to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. The part of the baby bumblebee that also stamped on the strip is hidden behind the ovals.

Finally, I threaded a piece of Coastal Cabana Thick Baker's Twine (retiring) through a Whisper White Designer Button and adhered it to the card with a Stampin' Dimensional. PRO TIP: I adhered the button to the card before tying the bow. This stabilizes the button, making it easier to tie the bow.

Really, this card came together in about 20 minutes. Despite the hecticity that is my life, I relish the creative oasis--even when I have to squeeze it in!

Fab Baby

#stampinup #weloveDS

The sweet colors over at this week's Fab Friday color challenge reminded me of a sweet baby. And the sweet "Baby Bumblebee" stamp is perfect for these colors!

I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black and colored the baby bumblebee's stripes with So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Write Markers. Then I cut the image with one of the Ovals Framelits.

I started with a Soft Sky card base, added a So Saffron mat, and topped that with a Pink Pirouette mat that I embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. I wrapped a length of Pear Pizzazz 1/4" Cotton Ribbon and tied a bow. I mounted the baby bumblebee oval with Stampin' Dimensionals, and done!!

Welcome, Baby Kyle!

A sweet young woman that I've known since she was a kid just had her first baby. He's a sweetheart. I thought I'd make her a card to welcome her sweet baby! The theme at the Addicted to Clean and Simple challenge blog this fortnight is GREEN and Pistachio Pudding is a great color for a sweet baby boy!

I was working an idea in my head all day and I have to admit that it took me a couple of tries to get it just right, but I think I accomplished that! I with a Pistachio Pudding panel and cut an oval from the Ovals Framelits collection. Then I lined up the Pistachio Pudding panel onto the Whisper White card base on the Whisper White card base and aligned a smaller oval. Then I ran the card base (without the Pistachio Pudding panel) through the Big Shot to cut the inner oval.

I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line up the Baby Bumblebee on the inside of the card. I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored the stripes with a Pistachio Pudding Stampin' Write marker. I finished the the card by tying a length of Whisper White 1/4" Cotton Ribbon onto the card. So cute!

Here's a closer look at the stamped image inside the card.

Ombre Baby Bumblebee

Oh my gosh! The sketch over at the Freshly Made Sketches challenge blog is so simple that it almost threw me for a loop. What in the world would I do with that??!!

Then I took a look at the wonderful cards the design team created and I saw that the sketch was almost anything goes--as long as it had the ribbon element at the top and remained clean and simple!!

I've been dying to use the totes adorbs "Baby Bumblebee" stamp with my Blendabilities. I thought this stamp would be really cute with an ombre-style using the light, medium, and dark of any Blendabilities set. I chose to use Calypso Coral--because I just got them in an order!! I also used the Skin Tone Blendabilities on the baby's face and wings.

I love, love, love the Calypso Coral seam binding ribbon, so I simply attached a length to the top of the card and tied a simple knot in the middle. I used a glue dot to pull the center of the ribbon down a little bit...just 'cause I wanted to see how that would look.

This card was so quick to pull together and I think it's really cute!! What do you think??
