Mornin', Glory!

When I saw the colors for this week's Nacho Average Challenges blog, I immediately thought I should do something floral, but what?

I took a look at my stamps and was drawn to the Hardwood background stamp. I've seen it used tone-on-tone in Hello Honey and I liked it. So, my first color and element was chosen. Then, I chose Old Olive for the card base, which left me with Marina Mist for the flower. The only flower I know that's blue is a morning glory. So, I inked up part of the Pleasant Poppies background stamp in Marina Mist and used a Marina Mist Stampin' Write marker to hit a few places the ink pad missed. I stamped the image onto Whisper White and colored the flowers using my Blender Pens and an Old Olive Stampin' Write marker. I used my Hello Honey Stampin' Write marker to color the center of one of the flowers.

I used Old Olive to ink up the sentiment from the And Many More stamp set and punched it with the Large Oval Punch to mimic the oval of the main image. I tied it all up with a bit of Hello Honey Stitched Satin Ribbon.

Nacho Calypso Flowers

This week's Nacho Average Challenge is a simple sketch. You'd think that it would be easy. Well, maybe for some--but not for me. I made something and then I didn't like it, so i tried to fix it and it just kept getting worse and worse and well, it's a hot mess. Even my DD agreed. So back to the drawing board....and I think I got it this time.

Here's the Nacho sketch:

...and here's my creation:

(Stamp Set: Pleasant Poppies, Label Love; Inks: Calypso Coral, Wild Wasabi, Black Stazon; Card Stock: Calypso Coral, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White; Accessories: Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Aqua Painters, Artisan Label Punch, Whisper White Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon)

Spring has sprung! (momentarily)

We've had a gorgeous few days here in central Maryland. Bright. Sunny. Warm (but not too warm). Simply lovely weather. But we have a saying here in Maryland--Don't Like the weather? Wait a few days. Apparently, we're getting a nasty, cold rain coming through and instead of being near 80 degrees, we're going to be lucky to get out of the 40s on Wednesday. Brr!

I was so happy to see the colors Connie and Mary have chosen for this week's color challenge. They're Bright and Sunny colors. So I'll be able to look at my card and remember what our fleeting spring felt like--at least for a few days!

Here are the colors:

CCMC298

And here's my card.

(Stamp Sets: Pleasant Poppies, Petite Pairs; Ink: Gumball Green, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight; Card Stock: Tangerine Tango, Gumball Green, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White; Accessories: Blender Pen, Framed Tulips Embossing Folder, Curly Label and Small Oval Punches, Essentials Piercing Pack, Daffodil Delight Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon)

I used my Blender Pen to color the flowers and the stems. I thought the greeting in the oval was "lost" on the Curly Label Punch--and then I remembered that the Essentials Piercing Pack has a template for that punch, so I pierced around the perimeter of the label.

Fab Friday Color Challenge

Welcome to day three of my series on stamping challenge blogs.  I hope you'll play along with me!

Today I'm playing along with the Fab Friday gang and this week's challenge is a color challenge!

 Fab Fri Logos-024
These colors are great for Halloween and the Fab Friday design team did either a Fall or Halloween card (or muslin bag with awesome tag) with them.  You should check them out--their designs are awesome, as usual!  I decided I wanted to stray from the "obvious" and see if I could use this color combination on an "everyday" card.  Here's what I came up with:

(Stamp Sets: Pleasant Poppies, Teeny Tiny Wishes; Inks: Rich Razzleberry, Tangerine Tango, Old Olive; Card Stock:  Basic Black, Rich Razzleberry, Tangerine Tango, Old Olive, Very Vanilla; Accessories: Stripes and Square Lattice Embossing Folders, Labels Collection Framelits, Word Window and Modern Label Punches, Brights Candy Dots, Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon; Festive Paper Piercing Pack, Blender Pen)

Also in keeping with this week's theme of trying things outside my comfort zone, I colored the image.  I hate to color.  I never have liked it--oh, maybe when I was a kid--but now that I'm grown I don't like to color...because I'm not very good at it and I'm never satisfied with the results.  This card turned out right cute, if I do say so myself.
