Hello (Goodbye) Tranquil Tide

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   Well, it's Thursday, so it's time to say goodbye to another of the 2017-2019 In Colors. Today I'm saying goodbye to Tranquil Tide. I honestly didn't appreciate Tranquil Tide when it debuted, but I grew to love it and it became one of my go-to greens. I love the depth of the color and I love that there is a bit of blue hue in it. It's such a great color. I'm sad to see it go. But don't you worry: in just a few weeks, you'll see some new In Colors and you might just forget your retiring favorites.

I'm also sad to say goodbye to the "Lovely As A Tree" stamp set (retiring). This set has been around for nearly 20 years! It's such a great set for masculine cards, thank you cards, sympathy cards, Christmas cards. I've used it for all of those occasions. Honestly, if you haven't purchased this set, it's one that you really need to have in your collection. And it's only going to be available through June 3rd and then it retires forever.
For today's card, I inked up the tall tree in Tranquil Tide (retiring) and then I wiped off the tree trunk with a baby wipe. I used my Early Espresso Stampin' Write Marker to color in the tree trunk and ground and then I stamped the tree onto a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. I cut this out with a Stitched Rectangle Die and adhered it to a larger rectangle of Cajun Craze Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper (retiring) that I cut with another Stitched Rectangle Die.

Next, I adhered a 3-3/4" by 5" piece of another sheet of Nature's Poem DSP to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Whisper White Card Stock panel. I added a 1-1/2" by 5" strip of yet another sheet of Nature's Poem DSP to the bottom and wrapped a length of Tranquil Tide Mini Ruffled Ribbon (retiring) around. I adhered everything to a Tranquil Tide Card Stock (retiring) card base.

I adhered the tree to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. I stamped a sentiment from the "Wood Words" stamp set (retiring) in Cajun Craze Ink onto a Whisper White scrap and punched it out with the Classic Label Punch. I adhered the sentiment to the card with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals, tucking one end behind the stamped panel.

If you want to add the "Lovely As A Tree" stamp set to your collection, act now. Get it before it retires!!

Autumn Trees Times Two

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   This time of year, when summer is turning into fall, we get the most awesome sunsets.  The leaves are starting to come off the trees, but they've still got some foliage on them.  I love these crisp almost fall evenings! Occasionally, I'll see a sunset and think: "I could stamp that."

The "Lovely As A Tree" stamp set has been around for ages. Every year I think I'll pull it out and use it to stamp trees at sunset. I haven't gotten around to it until now. And I did two versions!

First I used the swoop image from the "Work of Art" stamp set and, starting from the bottom, stamped one swoop in Pear Pizzazz (stamped off once), Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango, and Cajun Craze onto a 3-3/4" by 5" Shimmery White panel.  Then I stamped the row of trees from "Lovely As A Tree" in Basic Black Archival Ink. I added a sentiment from the "Colorful Seasons," also in Basic Black Archival Ink.

I adhered the stamped panel onto a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Basic Black mat and then onto a Pear Pizzazz Card Stock card base. Simple and pretty.

I thought it might be fun to try to blend the colors into each other, so I stamped them again--this time without the Cajun Craze, and then used an Aqua Painter to blend the colors into each other.
What do you think? Which version do you like better? And a special bonus question: Can you spot the mistake? Both cards have the same mistake...but I don't care because they're still awesome, if I do say so myself (and I do)!

Lovely Woods

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   Stampin' Up's "Lovely as a Tree" stamp set has been around forever and we still love it!! I haven't used it in a while, so I thought it was time to ink up this old favorite. I also thought it would be great paired with the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack. Let's see the card and then I'll tell you how easy it is to make!

I stamped the tree from "Lovely as a Tree" in Chocolate Chip onto a Very Vanilla scrap and cut it out with one of the Layering Circles Framelits. (I started with Early Espresso Ink, but I thought that was too dark.) I adhered this to an Early Espresso scalloped circle that I also cut with the Layering Circles Framelits.

Next, I stamped a sentiment from the "Birthday Delivery" stamp set in Early Espresso onto another Very Vanilla Scrap and cut it out with an oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

To build the card, I adhered a 3-3/4" by 5" piece of the Wood Textures DSP to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Very Vanilla mat and then onto an Early Espresso Card Stock card base.

I added a bit of Burlap Ribbon to the back of the tree circle before adhering it to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. I also used Stampin' Dimensionals to add the greeting to the card. Sweet!

Smoky Trees

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   The last of the cards for my September Christmas card-making class also features a clean and simple design. And it features that mainstay Stampin' Up stamp set: "Lovely as a Tree." Whenever a new Stampin' Up catalog comes out, we demonstrators look to see whether or not this set has retired. I don't know what will happen should the set ever retire. It's actually still a bestseller! It's been around since at least 2003--that's when the first card using the set was posted to Splitcoaststampers.com.

For my card, I started by stamping the tall pine tree in Smoky Slate onto a Whisper White panel. I stamped a sentiment from the "Peaceful Pines" stamp set, also in Smoky Slate, next to the tree. I love how Smoky Slate is almost silver!

Next, I ran the panel through the Big Shot using the Softly Falling Embossing folder. I wrapped a length of 1/8" Smoky Slate Stitched Ribbon around the panel before adhering it to a Basic Gray mat. Finally, I adhered this assembly to the Smoky Slate card base, cut lengthwise, with Stampin' Dimensionals.

This card is quick and easy, but still packs quite an impression!
COMING SOON! Do you wish you could come to one of my Christmas card-making classes but live too far away? Well, soon I'll be posting details on FOUR ways you can attend virtually! I still have a few technical details to work out in the background, but watch this space for exciting news in about a week!
