Light Up The Candles!

Today's card is my entry in the Seize the Birthday sketch challenge. This is an "anything goes" challenge. Every two weeks the challenge is to make a birthday card. There are new rules--just make a birthday card. But, the fun is that there's always a "topping" that you can choose to add...or not. This time the "topping" was a sketch.



I started with a piece of the Birthday Bash Specialty Series Paper and cut it into three pieces in accordance with the sketch. I mounted each onto a piece of Calypso Coral card stock and then onto a Daffodil Delight panel. I wrapped a length of Whisper White Organza Ribbon around the completed assembly and then mounted it all onto a Whisper White card base. 

Next, I stamped the "light 'em up" stamp in Night of Navy on a scrap of Whisper White and punched it with the 2-1/2" circle punch and mounted that piece onto a piece of Night of Navy that I cut with one of the dies from the Starburst Framelit Dies. Finally, I cut a large star from the Gold Foil paper with one of the Stars from the Stars Framelit Dies.

Seizing the Birthday

I haven't played along with the Seize the Birthday challenge in a while. I should play more often because I always need birthday cards, right? This challenge doesn't have a topping--and extra element.  It's an "anything goes" challenge! 

Sometimes having a blank slate is more challenging than having a specific "recipe," but I got an idea as soon as I grabbed the "You're Amazing" set and the "Moonlight" designer series paper pack. I wanted the feeling of banners and streamers because it's a party!! How'd I do?

Tag! You're It!

The weekly Seize the Birthday challenge blog is simple: make a birthday card. Any sketch. Any colors. Any stamps. You can choose to add a "topping," or not. This week's topping is "tags." Easy-peasy! I think I can do that!

I used one of my go-to color schemes: Pear Pizzazz, Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant, and Very Vanilla. I really like the purples and green together. And I used one of my go-to stamp sets: Petite Petals. I just love the small flowers in that set and their matching punch! This time I stamped randomly on the tag--some flowers are stamped off the edge. I added two 3D flowers just to give the card some additional dimension. There's a small pearl in the center of the 3D flowers. The Very Vanilla seam binding at the top of the tag looked a little bit lonely to me, so I added a bit of Linen Thread.

Seize the Birthday!

My stampin' friend Shana participates in a bunch of stamping challenges. I've been playing along with some of those challenges--as you will know if you've been following my blog. Shana posted a card from a new--to me--challenge: Seize the Birthday! This is an easy-peasy challenge because it's "anything goes." You can create any birthday card. Each week, the blog adds a birthday "topping." This week, it's flowers.

Here's what I came up with.

Yes, I know. Another card in pink. But the Basic Black makes it pop, don't you think? I added some interest and texture with the Quatrefancy DSP and Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder.
