Iconic Note Card Box

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   When I was selected to be a display stamper at Stampin' Up's OnStage event in November, I was given a box of supplies to create my samples.  Among the items in my box was the "Iconic Occasions" host set and Tasty Treats card stock pack with Watermelon Wonder, Crumb Cake, and Thick Whisper White card stock.  My assignment was to make cards, 3D items, and scrapbook pages.

The images in the "Iconic Occasions" stamp set are so tiny! I usually gravitate toward larger images.  But then I hit on an idea!  Why not make a smaller card?  So I got a package of Whisper White Note Cards (item 131527) and went to work!  I'll be showing the individual note cards tomorrow and Wednesday--so come back to see them up close and personal!!

Once I had all the note cards made, they needed a pretty box to go in.  I started with an 8" by 8" square of Watermelon Wonder Card Stock and used the Envelope Punch Board to make the box.  If you'd like to make one, too, here's my template.

Next, I cut a 10" by 2" strip of Crumb Cake Card Stock and embossed it with the Sparkle Embossing Folder.  I scored it as below.  I used Tear & Tape to adhere the ends and then I added a length of 5/8" Inch Watermelon Wonder Mini Striped Ribbon.

Here's the finished box.

I slipped a Delicate White Doily behind the belly band and adhered it.  I stamped two images from the "Iconic Occasions" stamp set in Watermelon Wonder and Crumb Cake onto a Whisper White scrap and cut it out with one of the Layering Circles Framelits.  I also cut a Watermelon Wonder scalloped circle using the same framelits.  I adhered a piece of the Watermelon Wonder Ribbon to the back of this and then used Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere this piece to a Gold Metallic Foil Doily.  I tousled some Linen Thread and adhered this to the back of the metallic doily before adhering the assembly to the belly band.

I made 6 note cards to go inside the box.  Here's the whole set.  Tomorrow and Wednesday I'll show you the cards, 3 by 3.  Come back and see!

Creation Station: Love Is in the Air

Our theme for the January 2017 Creation Station blog hop is "Love is in the Air, Love is Everywhere!"  It's not just about Valentine's Day, which is great, because I needed to make a card for a wedding next weekend.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do for quite a while and then it just hit me.  Does that every happen to you?  Do you mull something over for a few days and then get the answer light a bolt of lightning?  It doesn't always happen that way, but I'm always pleased when it does.  And I'm super pleased that my lightning bolt turned out just like I imagined it would!!

I knew I was going to use the "Lift Me Up" bundle (item 144712) because one of the stamps says "Love is in the Air."  That was a no-brainer!  But I wanted to do something different than the many wonderful samples I've already seen.  Here's what I came up with.

I cut out the large balloon from Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper using the Up & Away Thinlits Dies.  I stamped the hearts in Versamark Ink onto Blushing Bride Card Stock and then added some Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder and used my Heat Tool to emboss them.  I also used Copper for the sentiment.  Did you notice the banner? It's one of the Up & Away Thinlits--meant to be part of a larger balloon.  I thought that was clever!  I like it so much I'm going to use it again and again!

Here's the inside of the card--it's a pop-up gift card holder! Doesn't the Falling In Love Designer Series Paper look great on a Soft Suede Mat?  The sentiment is from the "B.Y.O.P" stamp set and is stamped in Soft Suede right on the DSP.  I added another copper-embossed heart to the inside because they're so dang cute!

The finished card is 4-1/4" by 4-1/2" so I needed to make an envelope for it.  I used my Envelop Punch Board to make the envelope out of another another sheet of the Falling in Love DSP.

Instead of gluing the flaps and making an actual envelope, I just wrapped the card in the pretty paper and tied a length of Very Vanilla 1/4" Satin Ribbon so that the packaging for the gift card is a sweet little gift itself!

I'll Take Mine with a Twist

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   Yes, I know it's the middle of winter, but I like ice cream any time of the year!  My favorite ice cream is soft serve and I love to have a chocolate-vanilla swirl with rainbow sprinkles.  Yummo!  Today's card reminds me of my favorite ice cream treat--and I used one of my favorite card designs--a hinged card.

When I first saw a hinged card, I thought it was going to be crazy hard to make, but it's really simple! 

The ice cream element holds the bottom of the card to the top of the card--it's like a bridge. Clever, huh?

Here's how I made it. I started with a half sheet--cut lengthwise--of Watermelon Wonder Card Stock.  I scored it in the middle--at 5-1/2"--just like I was making a regular card.  Then I cut one side off at 2".  That forms the hinge at the top of the card.  I cut the leftover Watermelon Wonder so that I had a 2" by 4-1/4" piece.  And I used the leftover from that to cut the ice cream using the Frozen Treats Framelits.

I cut two 4" by 1-7/8" pieces of Peekaboo Peach Card Stock. I adhered one to the top hinge and one to the leftover Watermelon Wonder piece. I cut two 3-7/8" x 1-3/4" pieces of Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper and adhered these to the top hinge and to the Watermelon Wonder/Peekaboo Peach leftover piece.  I tied a length of Thick Whisper White Baker's Twine around the leftover piece.

Next, I cut a 4" by 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White Card Stock and adhered this to the inside of the card.  I stamped the word "sweet" from the "Cool Treats" stamp set in Watermelon Wonder in the center, as close to the right side as I could get it.  PRO TIP:  Use your leftover piece for proper center placement of the sentiment.  I added an extra sentiment that will be hidden when the card is closed.

For the ice cream cone element that holds the card together, I started with a 2" by 3-1/4" piece of Peekaboo Peach and a 1-7/8" by 3-1/8" piece of Whisper White.  I used Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere this to the top hinge of the card and to the formerly leftover piece--bridging the two elements of the card front.

I stamped the Early Espresso swirl onto the Watermelon Wonder ice cream.  I made a Crumb Cake cone using one of the Frozen Treats Framelits.  I adhered the cone directly to the panel and used Stampin' Dimensionals to add the ice cream.  For a finishing touch, I added some Wink of Stella to the chocolate.

Mainz Flower Market

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   I'm very fortunate to have a job that allows me travel.  I get to go to amazing places that I wouldn't be able to otherwise visit.  Last fall I traveled to Mainz, Germany, home to the Gutenberg Museum and the Mainz Cathedral.  It's a pretty town with lots of little shops and restaurants, right along the beautiful Rhine River.

During my stay, there was a farmer's market in Mainz old town, right in the cathedral square.  There were stalls and stalls of fruits, vegetables, and amazingly beautiful flowers.  I took lots and lots of pictures.  I knew I'd need some shots for a scrapbook layout for my display stamper projects--and the flower stalls were the perfect subjects!

I started with a 12" by 12" piece of Whisper White Card Stock.  I stamped the scribbled circle image from the "Iconic Occasions" hostess set (item 143199) in Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, and Blushing Bride inks--some full strength, and some stamped off.  Then I flicked Gold Wink of Stella onto the page for some random gold flecks.

While that was drying, I added a piece of Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper to the two larger photos and a bit of Delicate White Doily to the two smaller photos.  I adhered these to the page with Fast Fuse Adhesive.  I used the Project Life Journaling Pen to add the description to the page.

This is such a quick and easy layout and the Whisper White page lets the fabulous floral colors shine!
