Creation Station: Sensational Single Stamps!

#stampinup  Wow! It seems like it's been forever since we've had a Creation Station blog hop! We post on the first and third Sundays of a month and sometimes there's a fifth Sunday in a month and we don't post...so it has been a little while. I hope that means you're ready for our sensational creations!

This time we're featuring the sensational single stamps in the catalog. I think these stamps get overlooked sometimes. I know I occasionally forget about them. But they're super fun to work with!

Our secondary theme is: bag it up! Some of us will be showing creative uses for Stampin' Up's great line of gift bags.

I initially thought I'd use either the "Get Well Soup" or "Watercolor Thank You" single stamps, but when I went to the stamp shelf, "Blended Bloom" called to me.

I cut a square of Vellum Card Stock and stamped the "Blended Bloom" in Basic Black Archival Ink. Because I'm so impatient, I set the ink with my heat tool. Then I used a Blender Pen and Mint Macaron ink to color the bloom. I really like how the vellum allow colors to layer. I colored the center of the bloom with Hello Honey ink.

For the card, I layered a Basic Black mat onto a Mint Macaron card base. Then, using my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig, I stamped a greeting from the "One Big Meaning" stamp set in Basic Black Archival Ink at the top of a Whisper White panel.

I attached the vellum to the card stock with a line of snail adhesive at the top. I covered the adhesive with a thin piece of Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper.

For my next project, I started with a Kraft Tag a Bag Gift Bag and embossed it with the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder. I cut a 2" strip of Very Vanilla Card Stock and flagged the end with the Banner Triple Punch. I stamped a sentiment from the "One Big Meaning" set onto this banner in Basic Black Archival Ink. I cut a 2" strip of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum and layered this on top so that the sentiment would show. I attached the vellum to the card stock with two glue dots strategically hidden behind a couple of gold polka dots. I wrapped the banners with Gold Metallic Thread and added a Gold Foil Doily behind the banner before attaching it to the bag.

I folded the top of the bag and stapled it shut (pretend there's a wonderful gift inside) and added a length of Basic Black Stitched Satin Ribbon as a finishing touch.

Now you can continue around the hop using either the "next" or "back" buttons below. Be sure to check out all the projects on the Creation Station blog hop. Our design team is here to inspire you!

Hey Macarena!

#stampinup  One of the fabulous new In Colors (2015-2017) is Mint Macaron. Not "macaroon," but the more hoity-toity, Frenchified "macaron." Except that every time I think about this color, I start singing, "Hey Macarena!" I don't know why. I'm silly like that.

Today's card is a clean and simple and quick and easy card that really showcases Mint Macaron and the "Blended Bloom" stamp. This stamp is gorgeous when colored in using the Aqua Painters and ink, but I think it's stunning left on its own as line art. I also used the "Work of Art" set for the sentiment, aligning the two pieces with my Stamp-a-ma-Jig and stamping them separately. Both the flower and sentiment are stamped directly onto the Mint Macaron panel.

The card base is also Mint Macaron and I added a Basic Black mat just for that monochromatic pop! Finally, I added a row of small Basic Rhinestones at the top and bottom of the card--and then colored these with a black Sharpie(TM).

HoJo Bloom

I've got to admit: when I first saw the color combination at this week's Create with Connie & Mary color challenge, all I could think of was

     CCMC354

Then I sat down to start creating and I had a little trouble. I like the way the "Blended Bloom" looked stamped randomly in Bermuda Bay on Whisper White. I backed this with a Bermuda Bay mat and then layered it onto a piece of Tangelo Twist Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper. I attached everything to a Bermuda Bay card base and I thought it looked pretty good. Oh wait. Gold is the third color.

I tried adding some Gold Sequin Trim, but that didn't work out. I tried scattering some Gold Sequins, but that didn't work out either. Finally, I hit on the idea of adding a shiny gold sentiment from the "And Many More" set and that did the trick!!

Creation Station: Think Spring!!!

Welcome to the Spring edition of Creation Station! This time our theme is Spring! It's about time for spring, don't you think? Here in central Maryland, we're getting some pretty days, but it's still chilly. I can't wait for the flowers and trees to start blooming. In the meantime, I have some springtime cards for you...and a couple of easy techniques.

For my first card, I used the emboss-resist technique. I stamped one of the flowers from the "Petite Petals" stamp set along the side of a Crumb Cake panel. I used Whisper White Craft Ink and then I heat embossed the flowers with White Embossing powder. Next, I sponged on some Strawberry Slush ink and wiped off the excess ink with a tissue.

I added a sentiment from the "Six-Sided Sampler" set in Early Espresso and a length of Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon. I mounted the Crumb Cake panel onto an Early Espresso Panel and then onto a Strawberry Slush card base.

For my next card, I used the Whisper White Craft Ink, the White Embossing Folder, and my heat embossing tool again. I stamped the "Blended Bloom" in Whisper White Craft Ink onto Blackberry Bliss card stock. Next, I used White Embossing Powder and my heat tool to emboss  the image.  I squeezed a few drops of Whisper White Craft Ink Refill into a saucer and used my Aqua Painters to whitewash the flower. I was pleasantly surprised when the Blackberry Bliss card stock "bled" a bit and mingled with the white. I kept adding ink refill or water until I got the effect I liked. I dried the flower with my heat tool (because I'm so impatient) and then cut it out with my Paper Snips Scissors.

I used Stampin' Dimensionals to mount the flower onto a panel of Pink Piroutte that I had embossed with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder. I wrapped a length of the Blackberry Bliss Velvet Ribbon from the Artisan Embellishments kit around the card.

I stamped a sentiment from the "Flower Patch" set onto a Whisper White scrap in Blackberry Bliss and punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch. I mounted this piece onto the card with Stampin' Dimensionals, too. I mounted the whole assembly onto a Blackberry Bliss card base.

Here's a closer view of the flower so you can see the white washed effect.

Well, those are my spring flowers. You can keep on hopping around the blog hop by using the "next" and "back" buttons. Next, up is Teneale Williams. I know she has some wonderful projects for you!!
