Retiring Critters

This week's challenge at the Fab Friday challenge blog is to use the 2013-2015 In Colors that are going to retire in just a few short weeks. I'm going to miss these colors. I love the soft pastels and how they coordinate so well with each other. We've had a good run and I guess it's almost time to move on.

I'm also using a soon-to-retire stamp set that I adore: "Cheerful Critters." When they showed this set at the Holiday Catalog Reveal I squealed out loud. Really. I kid you not. They're so stinkin' cute. I'm going to miss them, too.

For this card, I wanted to do a little something different since I really don't like to color because I'm never satisfied with the result. So I stamped the bear in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto the bottom corner of a Whisper White panel. Then I stamped him again onto a scrap of Coastal Cabana and again onto a scrap of Baked Brown Sugar. I fussy cut the bear's shirt and glued it onto the image on the Whisper White panel. And I fussy cut the bear's head and both his arms and glued them on as well.

I cut the Whisper White panel down a bit so that the Crisp Cantaloupe mat--that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder--would show a bit more. I tied a length of Baked Brown Sugar Baker's Twine around these and attached everything to a Coastal Cabana card base. Still stinkin' cute, if I do say so myself (and I do)!

Cute Baby Gift Card Holders

The codeword at the Addicted to Clean and Simple challenge is CUTE and what cuter stamp set is there than "Cheerful Critters"? I thought I could use the set to make some really cute baby gift card holders. I made one for a boy and one for a girl.

I used the Envelope Punch Board to make the 2.5"x3.5" envelopes on the front using 2013-15 In Color Designer Series Paper.

Each card has a mat embossed with the Large Polka Dot embossing folder. The envelopes are attached with Stampin' Dimensionals. Inside each card is a pull- tag onto which you can attach a gift card.

All the supplies are listed below the pictures. You can click on them and add them to your cart to purchase them from my Stampin' Up store.

Black-Eyed Susans

I interpreted this week's CAS(E) This Sketch quite literally. I liked the idea of a bright flower bursting out of a square. It's what I imagine the flowers in my yard are thinking about doing--bursting out of the ground. But I also imagine those flowers poking their tender little heads out of the ground and squealing, "Oh my gosh! It's too cold!" Spring can't get here soon enough

I wanted some bright yellow flowers to remind me that spring really will be here before I know it! I stamped two flowers with the "Bloom For You" stamp in Daffodil Delight onto Whisper White card stock and punched them with the "Fun Flower Punch."

Next I took a panel of Tangerine Tango and cut a 2.5"x2.5" square out of it using the Stampin' Trimmer. I mounted this onto a Whisper White card base. Then I put the flowers into the square so that they burst out of it onto the Tangerine Tango panel.

The flowers needed a little somethin'-somethin' so I added a Basic Black button and a Whisper White Baker's Twine bow. Now they look like black-eyed susans. I added a sentiment from the "Cheerful Critters" stamp set to finish the card.

(Don't mind the purple blob on the photo--it's a problem with my iPhone. Ugh. I'll be visiting the Genius Bar tomorrow to get it fixed or replaced.)
