A Sunny Thank You

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   Sometimes a tone on tone on tone card is just the ticket--especially when those tones come in a variety of patterns and textures. Today's card uses just two colors: the new 2020-2022 In Color Bumblebee and the stalwart Whisper White. I think this combination is stunning!

I started by stamping the large sunflower image from the "Celebrate Sunflowers" stamp set in Bumblebee Ink on a 3" by 4-1/4" Whisper White Card Stock panel. I added a 1/2" by 3" strip of polka dotted Bumblebee Designer Series Paper from the 2020-2022 In Color 6" by 6" DSP pack between the two flowers. Then I used Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere this panel to a 3-3/4" by 5" Bumblebee Card Stock panel that I embossed with the Scripty Embossing Folder. I adhered that to a 4" by 5-1/4" Whisper White Card Stock mat.

I wrapped a length of Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon (I love that ribbon!) around these layers and then I adhered them to a Bumblebee Card Stock card base.

To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment from the "Peaceful Moments" stamp set in Soft Suede Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock and cut it out with one of the Painted Labels Dies. I adhered this to the card with Stampin' Seal on the left and two Dimensionals on the right--so that the label lies flat on the card.

Poppies Four Ways

There are loads of fun things retiring, but don't despair--that just makes room for NEW stuff! The 2018-2020 In Colors (Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch, Call Me Clover, Blueberry Bushel) are retiring. If you want those inks, refills, card stock, designer series paper, ribbons, embellishments, get them soon, because the In Color items go quick! Retiring stamp sets will have guaranteed availability until May 22; all other retiring products are not guaranteed and are only available while supplies last, and will be discontinued after June 2. 

One item that will be retiring is the Peaceful Poppies Elements (item 151327), so I figured I'd better hop to it and use them while they're still around. They are a bargain at $6.50 and they're a lot of fun to play with.

I started with a basic design using Basic Black Card Stock as the card base, a Whisper White panel cut with the largest Stitched Rectangles Die, a 1-1/2" strip of Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper (retiring), the black embossed scallop strip from the Peaceful Poppies Elements (retiring), and a length of Whisper White Crinkle Seam Binding Ribbon.

I added different Peaceful Poppies Elements for each card. For this card, I used the embossed vellum elements that I colored (on the back) with Light Poppy Parade and Light Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends. I stamped a sentiment from the "Peaceful Moments" stamp set in Versamark Ink onto an embossed black banner element, sprinkled on some White Stampin' Emboss Powder, and set it with my Heat Tool. The poppies are adhered to the card with regular and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

The second card is similar to the first. This time I used the embossed watercolor paper elements and used my Aqua Painter (retiring) to color them with Poppy Parade and Mossy Meadow Ink. The sentiment is also from the "Peaceful Moments" set and embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder.

For card number three, I used the printed die cut and the black embossed circle elements. Both pieces are adhered to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The final card uses the long-stemmed vellum flowers that I colored (on the back) with the Light Poppy Parade and Light Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends. I adhered them to the card with some strategically placed Mini Glue Dots. I tied a bow from the Whisper White Crinkled Ribbon and adhered it to the card with another Mini Glue Dot.

These cards were really fun to make. My PROTIP is to color all your elements first and then they'll be ready for you to use whenever the whim strikes you. I made all four cards in less than half an hour!

Birthday Poppies

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   I'm sure you've had a look at the gorgeous Peaceful Poppies Suite on pages 24 through 27 of the January-to-June mini catalog. Did you happen to notice the Peaceful Poppies Elements on page 25? I completely missed them the first several times I looked at that suite. And then when I understood what they were, I was afraid that I wasn't up to the task to using them. They looked too "artistic." Well, I overcame my fear and played with them today and, while they are definitely artistic, there is nothing to fear!

The Peaceful Poppies Elements (item 151327) are a bargain at $6.50. You get two sheets of embossed water color paper, two sheets of embossed vellum card stock, two sheets of embossed black elements, and two sheets of printed die-cut elements. I spent an enjoyable afternoon coloring these sheets with Poppy Parade and Mossy Meadow Inks and my Aqua Painters. I also colored a vellum sheet with Light Poppy Parade and Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends. I colored one flower on the front of the vellum, but decided I like the effect better when I colored on the back. Here are my colored elements.

 

The top is water color paper, the middle is vellum with ink, and the bottom is vellum with Stampin' Blends. I labeled the one flower I colored on the front so you can see the difference. The best part about water coloring is that it doesn't have to be perfect--in fact, it's supposed to flow outside the lines. 

I stamped a sentiment from the "Peaceful Moments" stamp set in Versamark Ink onto one of the black elements pieces, sprinkled on White Stampin' Emboss Powder, and set it with my Heat Tool. I also used a black embossed border piece on the card--along with some striped Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper. The design is based on one I saw on Pinterest by a Japanese Stampin' Up demonstrator.

I adhered a bit of Vellum Card Stock on top of the DSP. The flowers and sentiment piece are adhered to the card with regular and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. Everything is on a Mossy Meadow Card Stock card base. I added several Peaceful Poppy Sequins as well. I tied a little bow with the Whisper White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and adhered it to the card with a Mini Glue Dot.

I had so much fun with the Peaceful Poppies Elements! I hope you'll give them a try, too!
