Creation Station: Cream of the Crop Shake Up

#stampinup   #creationstation   #faithfulinkspirations   Willkommen! Bienvenue! Welcome! It's time for another inspiring hop with the Creation Station Design team! This month we're pulling out all the stops for our “Cream of the Crop Shake Up” interactive cards. Our task, should we choose to accept it, is to pick our MOST favorite stamp set or bundle and then challenge ourselves to put together a playful, interactive card that shakes, flips, or spins. I've been wanting to play with the Honey Bee Bundle and coordinating Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper. These really are my most favorites--I don't know why I haven't played with them yet. So I got them out and set to work.

I was inspired by a spinner pop-up card I saw over at the Mitosu Crafts blog. Thankfully, Jay posted a video tutorial that could follow because I could never engineer paper like Jay did!  If you're going to try to make a spinner pop-up, I have two words of advice: patience and practice! Jay makes it look so easy, but if you're like me, you're going to need some fiddly time to get the mechanism just right. But it's doable and the results are so fun!

Take a look at the janky video I made, opening my card.

I used a large Stitched Rectangle Die to cut the center out of a 4" by 5-1/4" Whisper White Panel so that I could reserve that card stock to use later for the elements of my card. I adhered a 3-3/4" by 5" piece of  Golden Honey Specialty DSP on top and then a 1" by 3-3/4" strip from the same DSP. I wrapped a length of Basic Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon around everything before adhering to a Basic Black Card Stock card base.

I stamped a sentiment from the "Honey Bee" stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock (reserved from the center of the mat) and then cut it out with a Stitched Nested Label Die. I used the same die to cut a piece of Gold Foil. I trimmed the Whisper White piece so that it would fit into the Gold Foil Frame.

I cut two honeycomb pieces using one of the Detailed Bee Dies. I left some of the hexagon pieces in place and adhered it to the card. I used another Detailed Bee Die to cut out the bee from the Golden Honey Specialty DSP--it fits perfectly!!

Inside the card, I added some more Golden Honey Specialty DSP. I stamped some bees from the "Honey Bee" set in Memento Tuxedo Black onto the reserved Whisper White and cut them out with their matching Detailed Bee Dies. I cut a Whisper White rectangle with a Stitched Rectangle Die and stamped the "hello" and flower from the "Honey Bee" set in Tuxedo Black.

Two more bees from the DSP and the second honeycomb finish the inside--no wait! I added some Wink of Stella to the bees' wings and to the flowers.

I hope I've inspired you with my project. For more inspiration, hop on over to Dena's blog!
