A Giraffe of a Different Color

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   #ublueunwind2020   The corona virus has forced us to cancel many things in our lives and while that's sad, sometimes there's a silver lining. Like: I'm spending more time with my family than ever, which is a silver lining because they're on the verge of adulthood and someday soon we won't be spending all this "quality" time together. Like: I've got so much free time on my hands that I'm organizing all the piles of clutter that have accumulated all over the house.

And like: I wouldn't have been able to attend Lydia Fiedler's Unwind Retreat if it had been held in person in Texas, but the silver lining is that all retreat alumni were invited to join in on the crafty fun over Zoom for the entire weekend! Oh my goodness, it was so much fun to see these people, to learn crafting techniques, and to laugh and laugh and laugh!!!

We had a couple of crafty challenges to complete over the weekend. One was to create something with an animal, but the animal had to be a color that isn't normally that animal's color. How fun, right? I used the "Animal Outing" (retiring) stamp set to stamp the giraffe image in Memento Tuxedo Black onto Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped him again onto a Silicone Craft Sheet and then turned it over and rubbed it onto the card stock so that I got a mirror image of the giraffe! How cool is that?

I colored the giraffes with Light Rich Razzleberry and Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blends and then cut them out with a square Stitched Shape Die. I stamped a sentiment from the "Animal Outing" (retiring) stamp set in Rich Razzleberry Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock and cut it out with a smaller square Stitched Shape Die.

I cut a 4" by 5-1/4" piece of Rich Razzleberry Card Stock to use as a mat. I used two sizes of Layering Squares Dies to cut the scalloped mats for the stamped pieces out of the center of this piece. Then I embossed a 3-3/4" by 5" piece of Pumpkin Pie Card Stock with the Layering Leaves 3D Embossing Folder (retiring) and adhered it to the Rich Razzleberry mat. I tied on a length of Whisper White Flax Ribbon (retiring) before adhering everything to a Thick Whisper White Card Stock card base.

I adhered the stamped and matted images to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals and then I added three Melon Mambo Noble Peacock Rhinestones (retiring). To finish the card, I gave the giraffes a wash with my Clear Wink of Stella 'cause who doesn't love some sparkly razzleberry giraffes?!

As of this posting, all the retiring items are still available to order, but they are only available while supplies last until June 2. So if you want any of these, get a move on!!

Koala Baby

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   It's that time of the Stampin' Up year where we bid a fond farewell to retiring stamp sets and products. It can be a sad time, but it's also exciting because we're anticipating the new product release on June 2nd. But let's not get ahead of ourselves: although some items are retiring, they're still available for another month or so.

One of my favorite retiring sets is "Animal Outing." I love the animals in this set and they're fun and easy to color with Stampin' Blends. For this card, I paired the image up with some Birthday Bonanza Designer Series Paper (retiring). I love these fun colors!

I started with a Bermuda Bay Card Stock card base and adhered two 1-1/2" by 5-1/2" strips of Bermuda Bay Birthday Bonanza DSP (retiring) to either side of the front. I adhered a 2" by 5-1/2" strip of Grapefruit Grove Birthday Bonanza DSP (retiring) to a 2-1/8" by 5-1/2" strip of Whisper White Card Stock and then onto the card front.

I stamped the kangaroo and koala image in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock and colored the image with Light and Dark Crumb Cake, Light Smoky Slate, and Light Petal Pink Stampin' Blends. I cut this out with the largest circle in the Stitched Shapes Dies. I adhered it to a scalloped Bermuda Bay Card Stock circle cut with a Layering Circles Die. I adhered this to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I punched the end of a 1-1/2" strip of Bermuda Bay Card Stock with the Banner Triple Punch and tucked it behind the main image, adhering the end with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Next, I stamped the sentiment in Bermuda Bay Ink onto Whisper White scraps, sprinkled on some White Stampin' Emboss Powder, and set it with my Heat Tool. I fussy cut the words and adhered them to the card with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

For a finishing touch, I added three Basic Self-Adhesive Sequins (retiring).

If you want any of these items, act quickly. The DSP and embellishments are only available while supplies last and some items on the retiring list have already sold out! The stamp sets are only guaranteed to be available until May 22. As always, just click on the thumbnails below and you'll be taken directly to my online store where you can shop in the comfort and safety of your own home!

Stay safe. Stay healthy. Stay home.

Seeing Double

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   #ProtipTuesday   I've got a really fun Protip for you today: mirror image stamping. Let's dive right in!

I thought the hippo from the "Animal Outing" stamp set would be a good candidate for this technique. I put the stamp into my Stamparatus, inked it with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, and then stamped it onto the Silicone Craft Sheet. I used the Stamparatus because I wanted to stamp the image several times so I'd have a very clear image with lots of ink.

Once I got a good image, I removed the Silicone Craft Sheet from the Stamparatus and put in a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. I "stamped" the hippo onto the card stock by flipping over the Craft Sheet and placing it onto the card stock where I wanted my image to be. I rubbed the back of the Craft Sheet to transfer the image onto the card stock.

Then I used the Stampartus to stamp the hippo the "regular" way. Easy peasy!

Here's the finished card. Cute, huh?

I added some leaves from the "Animal Outing" stamp set in Mossy Meadow Ink. To get the "mirror" image here, I just turned the stamp upside down (rotated it 180 degrees). The sentiment is stamped in Mossy Meadow Ink, too.

I colored the hippos with Light & Dark Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends and the birds with Light Daffodil Delight and Light Pineapple Punch Stampin' Blends. I adhered the stamped panel to a Mossy Meadow Card Stock mat.

I wrapped a length of Magnolia Lane Ribbon around a 4" by 5-1/4" piece of Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper and then adhered it to a Mossy Meadow Card Stock card base. I adhered the stamped piece to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I hope you enjoyed this Protip! Come back every Tuesday for "Protip Tuesday" here on the Faithfulinkspirations blog. Or, stop by every day because I often share Bonus Protips!
