Dashing into Christmas

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   #ChristmasInJuly   Since I'm gone on my whirlwind business trip, I can't play along in challenges like I usually do on Wednesdays. So, instead, we're going to have "Christmas in July (and part of August)" on Wednesdays. I'm starting to plan my monthly Christmas card stamp-a-stacks, so I've begun working on some prototypes. Here's one I made with the "Dashing Deer" stamp set.

I embossed a 4" by 4" piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock with the Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder. I adhered a 1" by 4" strip of Gold Glimmer Paper to either edge of the square. I wrapped a length of Vanilla Metallic Edge Ribbon around and then adhered everything to a Merry Merlot Card Stock card base, cut lengthwise.

I cut the dashing deer from Merry Merlot Card Stock and adhered him to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Finally, I stamped "Merry" and "Christmas" from the "Merry Christmas to All" stamp set in Merry Merlot Ink onto Very Vanilla. I punched each word out with the Classic Label Punch and snipped the points off each end with my Paper Snips. I adhered these pieces to the card with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

Dashing Christmas Deer

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   One of my favorite new Christmas stamp sets in the Holiday Catalog is the "Dashing Deer" set. I really love the deer silhouettes and I especially love the brocade pattern on the largest deer. I used this set when I designed one of the cards we made at my Christmas card making classes, but I like to get multiple uses out of stamp sets. I hadn't come up with a design yet--though I'd stamped about a dozen of the deer in Gray Granite. And then I came across this lovely card by Jenn Picard in the Fancy Friday blog hop and I made one of my own!

I started with a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Cherry Cobbler mat. I adhered a 3-3/4" by 5" piece of wood grain Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper. I cut a 2" strip of the plaid Cherry Cobbler DSP sheet and a 1-1/2" strip of the starred Gray Granite DSP sheet and flagged both with the Banner Triple Punch. I adhered these to the card. I cut a scalloped Vellum Cardstock circle using one of the Layering Circles Framelits and adhered this to the card. I wrapped a length of Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon around these pieces and then adhered everything to a Gray Granite Card Stock card base.

I stamped the deer in Gray Granite Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock and cut him out with the matching Detailed Deer Thinlit. I adhered him to the card with a combination of Mini and regular Stampin' Dimensionals.

I stamped the "Merry Christmas" sentiment from the "At Home with You" stamp set in Cherry Cobbler Ink onto a Whisper White scrap and punched it out with the Classic Label Punch. I snipped off the end to be even with the edge of the DSP and adhered it to the card with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

To finish the card, I added some Frosted Epoxy Droplets. I loved Jenn's card and I love the way mine turned out, too!

Merry Christmas, Deer

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   I'm a sucker for a deer at Christmas time, especially one with a fanciful set of antlers. I think it's because they remind me of Harry Potter's patronous. I especially like the deer in Stampin' Up's "Dashing Deer" set because of the lovely pattern in the silhouette. See what I mean?

Let me tell you how to make this card because it's a fun card to make, with loads of textures and patterns. So, the first thing to do is stamp the patterned deer from the "Dashing Deer" set (there are two other deer included in the set) in Gray Granite Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock. Then cut out the deer with the matching Detailed Deer Thinlit. Set him aside.

Next, stamp a sentiment of your choice--I used a sentiment from the "Mistletoe Season" set--in Cherry Cobbler Ink onto the top right corner of a 3-3/4" by 5" Whisper White panel.  I adhered a 1-1/2" by 5" strip of Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper to a 3-7/8" by 5" strip of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and then adhered this to the Whisper White panel. I adhered that to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Gray Granite Card Stock mat. Then I wrapped a length of Gray Granite 1/2" Textured Weave Ribbon around this assembly before adhering it to a Cherry Cobbler Card Stock card base.

I adhered the deer to the card with a combination of regular and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. And then because I thought the card needed a little something to balance the design, I adhered three Clear Epoxy Droplets to the bottom right. Here's the finished product.
I really like how this card turned out--and I like how I combined elements from different stamp sets and product suites to make this card. You don't have to be a "pro" to do that--just experiment with what you have and see what you can come up with!

Happy Christmas Wishes

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   When I start planning my first Christmas card stamp-a-stack session, I have to choose a stamp set and accessories from the annual catalog because my first session is in August and the holiday catalog won't be out by then. Fortunately, there are always a few sets that carry over from one year to the next and there are always NEW Christmas sets in the annual catalog. My favorite of this year's crop is "Mistletoe Season." The images are fresh and modern and the coordinating Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper is really fun!

Well, today's card is pretty clean and simple and it's a CASE (copy and share everything) of a cute card made by one of my stamping idols, Mindy Backes. I changed the color scheme up  just a little bit because I thought the new Granny Apple Green would go great with the old stand by Real Red. What do you think?

I used the Stamparatus to get the two-step mistletoe stamps just right. I stamped one in Shaded Spruce Ink and the other in Granny Apple Green Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped the bow outline in Shaded Spruce Ink and filled it in with Real Red Ink. Then I cut out the image with the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. I adhered this to a large Real Red Card Stock scalloped circle that I cut with one of the Layering Circles Framelits.

Next, I embossed a 4" by 5-1/4" Granny Apple Green Card Stock panel with the Subtle Embossing Folder. I love the subtle texture that embossing folder gives to a piece of card stock--I guess that's where it gets its name! I tied on a length of Real Red 3/8" Cotton Ribbon before adhering it to a Whisper White Card Stock card base, cut lengthwise.

I stamped a sentiment from the "Dashing Deer" stamp set in Real Red Ink onto Whisper White and punched it out with the Pretty Label Punch. I cut a circle of Real Red Card Stock using one of the Stitched Shapes Framelits and adhered it to the back of the label. Then I adhered this to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

To finish the card, I adhered the mistletoe piece to the card with some more Stampin' Dimensionals and added some Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the mistletoe image. I think this will be a fun card to make at my October Christmas card stamp-a-stack!
