Sweet Snowman Christmas

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   #fabfriday   I've been busy lately with my Christmas card making classes and trying to finish my own cards. I feel like I'm a little bit ahead of the game this year, but let's not jinx it. There's still plenty of time for me to procrastinate and not get the cards done, written, and mailed. We always receive one card practically on the first of December. I don't know how they do that. Maybe they spend Thanksgiving addressing cards! What's the earliest you've ever gotten your cards in the mail? I feel like, if they're postmarked December 24th, they're on time!

I design 12 different cards for my Christmas card making classes, and I make extras of those to send out. But I also like to design a few other cards. I send almost 100 cards and I like to have a variety. I get bored if I'm making too many of the same kind. Not that I mind making duplicates. There's something soothing about the assembly line process.

Anyway, I saw the current Fab Friday challenge and decided to play along. I've got a TON of the Santa's Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper that I need to use up and I thought this sketch would be perfect. Here's what I came up with.

I started by cutting a piece of the Santa's Workshop Specialty DSP with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelit. Next, I cut a scalloped oval from the center of the 5-1/8" by 3-7/8" Poppy Parade Card Stock mat. I cut a smaller scalloped oval from the center of the larger oval--you can cut both pieces at the same time! I adhered the DSP to the larger Poppy Parade oval.

I ran a 3-3/4" by 5" Garden Green Card Stock panel through the Big Shot with the Subtle Embossing Folder. I adhered this to the Poppy Parade mat. I cut a 2" x 5" strip of the striped sheet of the Santa's Workshop Specialty DSP, flagged the end with the Banner Triple Punch, and adhered this to the Garden Green panel. I wrapped a length of Whisper White Classic Weave Ribbon around this and then adhered everything to a Thick Whisper White Card Stock card base.

I stamped a sentiment from the "Mistletoe Season" stamp set in Garden Green Ink onto a Whisper White Card Stock scrap. I cut this out with a small oval from the Stitched Shapes Ovals Framelits and adhered it to a Poppy Parade scalloped oval.

I adhered the two oval pieces to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. I adhered the smaller oval on top of the DSP image to cover a "stray" snowman printed on the DSP. To finish the card, I added a few Santa's Workshop Enamel Shapes.

If you're a procrasta-stamper, you still have time to order supplies to make cards...but you'll need to hurry to get everything in time. Contact me today!

Elves in the House!

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   On Monday and Wednesday I shared two cute cards that I made using products from the Santa's Workshop Suite. I saved the best for last. I think today's card is uber adorbs! Lookie!

I used the Santa's Signpost Framelits to cut the elves out of the Santa's Workshop Specialty Designer Series Paper. I love how the framelits match both the DSP and the stamped images in the "Signs of Santa" stamp set! These elves are so cute! The "specialty" on this paper is that the trim on the elves' hats is flocked. Fun!

To make this card, I embossed a 3-3/4" by 5" Whisper White Card Stock panel with the Swirls and Curls Embossing Folder. I adhered this to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Garden Green Card Stock mat and then onto a Poppy Parade Card Stock card base.

I used Snail Adhesive to adhere the elves to the card, but you could use Stampin' Dimensionals if you wanted a bit more, you know, dimension.  Next, I stamped a sentiment from the "Mistletoe Season" stamp set in Poppy Parade Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock and cut it out with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelit. I adhered this to a scalloped Garden Green oval that I cut with one of the Layering Ovals Framelits. I added this to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

To finish the card with some fun elements, I added two Santa's Workshop Enamel Shapes to the sentiment piece. It's uber adorbs, right?

Merry Christmas, Deer

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   I'm a sucker for a deer at Christmas time, especially one with a fanciful set of antlers. I think it's because they remind me of Harry Potter's patronous. I especially like the deer in Stampin' Up's "Dashing Deer" set because of the lovely pattern in the silhouette. See what I mean?

Let me tell you how to make this card because it's a fun card to make, with loads of textures and patterns. So, the first thing to do is stamp the patterned deer from the "Dashing Deer" set (there are two other deer included in the set) in Gray Granite Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock. Then cut out the deer with the matching Detailed Deer Thinlit. Set him aside.

Next, stamp a sentiment of your choice--I used a sentiment from the "Mistletoe Season" set--in Cherry Cobbler Ink onto the top right corner of a 3-3/4" by 5" Whisper White panel.  I adhered a 1-1/2" by 5" strip of Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper to a 3-7/8" by 5" strip of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and then adhered this to the Whisper White panel. I adhered that to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Gray Granite Card Stock mat. Then I wrapped a length of Gray Granite 1/2" Textured Weave Ribbon around this assembly before adhering it to a Cherry Cobbler Card Stock card base.

I adhered the deer to the card with a combination of regular and Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. And then because I thought the card needed a little something to balance the design, I adhered three Clear Epoxy Droplets to the bottom right. Here's the finished product.
I really like how this card turned out--and I like how I combined elements from different stamp sets and product suites to make this card. You don't have to be a "pro" to do that--just experiment with what you have and see what you can come up with!

Happy Christmas Wishes

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   When I start planning my first Christmas card stamp-a-stack session, I have to choose a stamp set and accessories from the annual catalog because my first session is in August and the holiday catalog won't be out by then. Fortunately, there are always a few sets that carry over from one year to the next and there are always NEW Christmas sets in the annual catalog. My favorite of this year's crop is "Mistletoe Season." The images are fresh and modern and the coordinating Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper is really fun!

Well, today's card is pretty clean and simple and it's a CASE (copy and share everything) of a cute card made by one of my stamping idols, Mindy Backes. I changed the color scheme up  just a little bit because I thought the new Granny Apple Green would go great with the old stand by Real Red. What do you think?

I used the Stamparatus to get the two-step mistletoe stamps just right. I stamped one in Shaded Spruce Ink and the other in Granny Apple Green Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped the bow outline in Shaded Spruce Ink and filled it in with Real Red Ink. Then I cut out the image with the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. I adhered this to a large Real Red Card Stock scalloped circle that I cut with one of the Layering Circles Framelits.

Next, I embossed a 4" by 5-1/4" Granny Apple Green Card Stock panel with the Subtle Embossing Folder. I love the subtle texture that embossing folder gives to a piece of card stock--I guess that's where it gets its name! I tied on a length of Real Red 3/8" Cotton Ribbon before adhering it to a Whisper White Card Stock card base, cut lengthwise.

I stamped a sentiment from the "Dashing Deer" stamp set in Real Red Ink onto Whisper White and punched it out with the Pretty Label Punch. I cut a circle of Real Red Card Stock using one of the Stitched Shapes Framelits and adhered it to the back of the label. Then I adhered this to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

To finish the card, I adhered the mistletoe piece to the card with some more Stampin' Dimensionals and added some Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the mistletoe image. I think this will be a fun card to make at my October Christmas card stamp-a-stack!
