Pretty Little Boxes

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   My office started a holiday tradition a couple of years ago--we hang little stocking outside our offices and every so often, we'll get a little treat in it. Well, being a paper crafter, I can't just drop a treat in the stockings--I have to wrap my treats in pretty designer series papers and embellishments. And, I can use up some of that DSP that I horde until the holiday passes by. So, my first treat are Tic Tac boxes. I think they turned out so cute--don't you?

These boxes are so easy to make. I started with a 4-1/2" by 6" piece of Wrapped in Plaid DSP. On the short end, score at 3/4" and 3-3/4". Turn a quarter turn and score the long end at 1″, 1-3/4″, 3-1/2″, and 4-1/4″. Fold all the score lines.

Next, you're going to cut away the top part of the scores, make the tabs for the box, and round the ends of the box lid, like this.

Put some adhesive on the little tabs and fold up to make the bottom of the box, like this.

Put some adhesive on the larger flaps (at the bottom of this picture), and then you have your box formed, like this.

To finish the box, I tied on a 10" length of Gold Metallic Edged Ribbon. I strung a couple of Jingle Bells onto some Linen Thread and tied that around the knot of the ribbon. I stamped a sentiment from the "Memories of Home" stamp set in Shaded Spruce Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock and punched it out with the smaller of the Gleaming Ornaments Punches. I adhered this to the box with a Mini Glue Dot. Simple!

These were so fun to make. I made ten of them in about an hour. They'd make cute stocking stuffers for your family. You can order the supplies by clicking on the thumbnails below and you'll go straight to my online store.

Creation Station: Put A Ring on It!

Hello! Can you believe that it's December already? Didn't we just have Thanksgiving a couple of days ago? Oh, wait. We did! Yikes this year is coming to a close quickly. Let's not rush it (especially since I am totally NOT ready for Christmas. Not. At. All.)

Our theme for today's Creation Station blog hop "is put a ring on it." What fun! I have a fun project that's quick to make and oh so pretty. And it rings in the Christmas season, with bells that ring, and boxes that are ringed by belly bands! Take a look.

Aren't these boxes spectacular? I mean, Stampin' Up! offers the most wonderful, coordinating, shiny products. And it was a snap putting these boxes together. Check out the tutorial here.

I started with the amazing Gold Mini Pizza Boxes from the Wrapped in Plaid Suite on pages 12-14 in the Holiday Catalog. These boxes are so shiny!! I made a belly band from Shaded Spruce Card Stock and the Wrapped in Plaid 6" by 6" Designer Series Paper. Then I tied on some Shaded Spruce and Gold 3/8" Striped Ribbon.

Next, I used one of the Layering Circles Dies to cut a scalloped circle from a Gold Foil Sheet and adhered this to the belly band with Stampin' Dimensionals. Then I punched out a plaid tree from the Wrapped in Plaid DSP with the Pine Tree Punch and adhered this to the Gold Foil scalloped circle with Stampin' Dimensionals. Then I threaded three Jingle Bells onto some Linen Thread and tied them onto the ribbon.

I stamped the sentiment from the "Memories of Home" stamp set in Shaded Spruce onto Whisper White Card Stock and punched it out with one of the punches from the Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack. I adhered this to the belly  band with a Stampin' Dimensional.

To put a cute finishing touch on the package, I added some Gold Metallic Pearls as ornaments on the tree. Too cute!

A Merry Season

I started a new job at work and although it doesn't seem like that much more work than my previous job, it must be more work because I'm exhausted at the end of the day. I can barely get through dinner. I've been sitting in bed knitting most evenings--which means the stampin' room has been neglected. Sorry about that. I'll make up for it this week, starting with today's card.

Stampin' Up's September #simplestamping challenge is to make a Christmas/holiday/new year's card using only stamps, ink, paper, and designer series paper. Yay, DSP! I need a little something more than just the basics. I used the gorgeous Noble Peacock Specialty Designer Series Paper from the Annual Catalog and the "Memories of Home" stamp set from the just-released Holiday Catalog. (NOTE: The Noble Peacock Specialty DSP is thick--at least as thick as cardstock, probably thicker.) Here's my #simplestamping Christmas card. What do you think?

I have a confession: I cheated a little bit on the challenge. I used Clear Wink of Stella (that's ink, right?) to add some glimmer to the ornaments--and to pull some of the ink into the blank space. You can do some faux "watercoloring" with Wink of Stella. I also couldn't resist adding a small Pretty Peacock colored Noble Peacock Rhinestone to the center of two of the ornaments. Here's a close up so you can see the pretty DSP and the shimmer from the Wink of Stella.
