Creation Station: Layers of Leaves

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   #creationstation  Well, it's the first Sunday of October so it's time for another round of the Creation Station blog hop. Our theme this time is "layers of leaves"--which is a great theme for fall in the northern hemisphere. But, here in central Maryland, although the calendar says it's fall, the weather still thinks it's summer. I can't wait for some crisp fall days!

In the meantime, I've made two cards that will put you in the mood for fall (even if it's not quite fall outside your window). I'm really excited by how my first card turned out. Take a look!
I used the Seasonal Layers Thinlits to cut three leaves from a Gold Foil Sheet, two from a Silver Foil sheet, two from a Copper Foil Sheet, and two from Vellum Card stock. I love the details in this leaf thinlit, don't you?

I embossed a sentiment from the "Colorful Seasons" stamp set with Silver Embossing Powder onto a 3-3/4" by 5" piece of one of the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper. I love the way this shines on the DSP!

I adhered the DSP, at a slight tilt, to a 3-7/8 piece of Basic Gray Card Stock. I wrapped a length of Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon around these pieces before adhering them to a Gray Granite Card Stock card base. I curled the corners of the mat and the DSP for a little interest. I ran my Snail Adhesive down the left side of the card and adhered the leaves, overlapping them. Honestly, this card turned out much better than I imagined and it was simple to make!!

I went a little embossing crazy for my next card! It was so fun to make.
I started with a piece of 3" by 2" Shimmery White Paper and covered it with Versamark Ink. I dumped on Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder and set it with my Heat Tool. I let it cool a bit and repeated the process: covered the now-embossed paper with Versamark Ink, dumped on Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder, and set it with my Heat Tool. This time, however, it didn't let the piece cool--I added Stampin' Emboss Powder to the paper while the second layer was still hot and then set it with the Heat Tool. While it was still hot, I stamped the larger leaf from the "Rooted in Nature" stamp set in Versamark Ink and then into the hot embossing powder. I pressed hard and then let it sit for a few minutes with a couple extra acrylic blocks to weigh it down.

I made two more leaves using the same process: one with Silver Stampin' Emboss Powder and another with Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder. When the images were set, I cut them out with the matching Nature's Root Framelit.

I embossed a 3-3/4" by 5" Very Vanilla Card Stock panel with the Subtle Textured Impression Embossing Folder. I placed this in my Stamparatus and stamped the sentiment from the "Rooted in Nature" stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I used the Stamparatus because I could stamp the sentiment several times so that it filled in between the nubby embossed cardstock.

While the panel was still in the Stamparatus and while the ink was still wet, I poured on Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder. I carefully took it out of the Stamparatus and dumped the excess embossing powder onto a sheet of paper so I could return it to the jar. Then I  set the sentiment with the Heat Tool.
I adhered the Very Vanilla panel to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Basic Black Card Stock mat. I adhered the embossed leaves to the card with Snail Adhesive and then I wrapped some Linen Thread around several times before adhering everything to a Crumb Cake Card Stock card base.
I hope you enjoyed my creations. I certainly had fun making them. I hope you'll try one of my techniques.

Up next is the fabulous Sarah Langland. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us!
