Creation Station: Tweets & Treats

Hey there! I'm back this month after successful knee replacement surgery and ready to get my craft on! This month the Creation Station Design Team will wow you with our "not a card" projects! Our assignment is to create a cute and clever 3D project or goodie. I know October is the time to get ready for Halloween, but since my kiddos are grown, I don't do much for that holiday, so I decided to do a Christmas project--it's not too soon to start, is it?

I made this cute stack of boxes that provides such a sweet way to "wrap" a few small gifts. These boxes are so easy to make and I know you'll want to make oodles!

The box bottoms are made from card stock. I used Mossy Meadow for the largest box, Evening Evergreen for the middle box, and Real Red for the smallest box. Each sheet is cut in a square 8" by 8" for the large; 7" by 7" for the middle; and 6" by 6" for the smallest. For ALL sizes score at 2 inches on ALL sides.

To form the box bottom, snip as shown below.

The lids are made from Designer Series Paper. I used Painted Christmas and Boughs of Holly DSP. Add 1/16" to the size of the bottoms, or 8-1/16" by 8-1/16" for the large; 7-1/16" by     7-1/16" for the medium; and 6-1/16" by 6-1/16" for the small. Then you'll score ALL three sizes at 1/2" and 1-1/2" on ALL sides, as below.

Then, snip your scored DSP as below.

I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to assemble my boxes--that gives me a bit of wiggle room to make sure I have the sides aligned just right. But you can use Seal+ or Tear and Tape, if you prefer.

After I assembled the boxes, I tied them up with a length of White Glittered Organdy Ribbon.

For the tag, I cut a Basic White tag using one of the Painted Labels Dies and stamped two of the tree images from the "Peaceful Deer" stamp set in Mossy Meadow. I stamped the leaping deer in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a Basic White scrap and colored it with Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends. Then I punched him out with the Deer Builder Punch. I adhered the deer to the tag with Stampin' Dimensionals. I stamped "Merry Christmas" in Real Red Ink onto a Basic White Scrap and fussy cut the sentiment before adhering it as a banner across the deer. I added a few Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the tag and tied it onto the packages with a length of silver cord from the Simply Elegant Trim duo.

I hope you don't feel "tricked" by having a Christmas package offering instead of Halloween. And I hope you'll try out these boxes. They're quick and easy and make a big impact!
