Nacho Thank You

#stampinup

Sometimes the simplest of designs take the longest to execute. I had an idea for this week's Nacho Average Sketch Challenge and got right to work. Only it didn't turn out like I hoped it would. I think I need some remedial instruction in the use of washi tape. But that's a story for another day. I did finally get a design that I like.

For this card, I started with a 3"x2.75" piece of Whisper White card stock--that's the same size as the wooden block for the "Watercolor Thank You" stamp. I stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral and added some splotches from the "Gorgeous Grunge" stamp set. I mounted this on a piece of Basic Gray. I tried a Crumb Cake panel behind that piece but it just didn't have that zing, so I swapped it out for a Calypso Coral panel that I embossed with the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder.

I tried and tried to use a couple of pieces of Epic Day Designer Washi Tape, but I just wasn't feeling it. So I added a piece of Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon and just a little piece of washi tape.

Red Bird of Happiness

This week's color combination at the Create with Connie & Mary challenge blog is out of my wheelhouse--and that's what makes it a challenge! I kept wanting to pull out Crumb Cake and Pool Party. I really need to read directions a bit more closely!

CCMC348

I started with a Soft Sky panel and stamped the Woodgrain Background stamp in Sahara Sand. I didn't know quite how I was going to get the branch and the bird on the card, so I just stamped them onto a scrap of Very Vanilla--and they turned out so wonderfully--the bird was placed exactly where I wanted it and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to recreate that. So I decided to go with it. I tore a corner off the Woodgrain panel and adhered it over the Very Vanilla piece.

I adhered the main piece onto a Sahara Sand panel and then onto a Soft Sky card base. I stamped the sentiment in Rose Red onto another Very Vanilla scrap and then punched it out with the Large Oval Punch. I love it when a design comes together by accident!

Welcome, Baby Kyle!

A sweet young woman that I've known since she was a kid just had her first baby. He's a sweetheart. I thought I'd make her a card to welcome her sweet baby! The theme at the Addicted to Clean and Simple challenge blog this fortnight is GREEN and Pistachio Pudding is a great color for a sweet baby boy!

I was working an idea in my head all day and I have to admit that it took me a couple of tries to get it just right, but I think I accomplished that! I with a Pistachio Pudding panel and cut an oval from the Ovals Framelits collection. Then I lined up the Pistachio Pudding panel onto the Whisper White card base on the Whisper White card base and aligned a smaller oval. Then I ran the card base (without the Pistachio Pudding panel) through the Big Shot to cut the inner oval.

I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to line up the Baby Bumblebee on the inside of the card. I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored the stripes with a Pistachio Pudding Stampin' Write marker. I finished the the card by tying a length of Whisper White 1/4" Cotton Ribbon onto the card. So cute!

Here's a closer look at the stamped image inside the card.

Artisan Birthday

My wonderful next door neighbor is turning 95 years young this week. She's a sweetheart! Whenever I ask her how she's doing she says, "I can't complain...don't do any good anyway." She has such a wonderful attitude.

I thought I'd use the Artisan Embellishment Kit to make her a special pink card. I used the die cut roses panel and one of the rosettes. This kit is awesome--there are so many sweet elements. I love the buttons and pearls, too!

The layout for the card is based on this week's Retro Sketches Challenge.

Miss Ruth loves pink, so I started with a Blushing Bride card base. I added a Whisper White mat that I embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. I added a panel of Blushing Bride behind the die cut element. I stamped the birthday sentiment from the "Petite Pairs" set in Rose Red and punched it with the oval punch. A pink rosette from the Artisan Embellishment Kit finishes the design.

Mosaic Birthday

I haven't played in the Nacho Average Challenge in a while. I think I've mentioned that I have trouble with the space-time continuum and I can never seem to remember when I need to post a card to the Nacho challenge blog. I seem to always just miss the deadline. But this time, I'm ready!!

This week it's a sweet color combination!

I haven't used the "Mosaic Madness" stamp set in a long time, so it's about time I pulled it out. I stamped one mosaic in each of the colors: Blushing Bride, So Saffron, and Pool Party and punched them out with the Mosaic Punch. I ran a mat of Whisper White through the Big Shot with the Modern Mosaic embossing folder. I added a length of Pool Party 1/4" Cotton Ribbon and a sentiment from the "And Many More" set. A few basic rhinestones and we're done!!
