Nacho Thank You

Sometimes the simplest of designs take the longest to execute. I had an idea for this week's Nacho Average Sketch Challenge and got right to work. Only it didn't turn out like I hoped it would. I think I need some remedial instruction in the use of washi tape. But that's a story for another day. I did finally get a design that I like.



For this card, I started with a 3"x2.75" piece of Whisper White card stock--that's the same size as the wooden block for the "Watercolor Thank You" stamp. I stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral and added some splotches from the "Gorgeous Grunge" stamp set. I mounted this on a piece of Basic Gray. I tried a Crumb Cake panel behind that piece but it just didn't have that zing, so I swapped it out for a Calypso Coral panel that I embossed with the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder.

I tried and tried to use a couple of pieces of Epic Day Designer Washi Tape, but I just wasn't feeling it. So I added a piece of Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon and just a little piece of washi tape.

Sweet Pastel Thank You

I hadn't used the 2013-2015 In Colors in a while and I kind of missed them. Yesterday I pulled out some Pistachio Pudding card stock and remembered how pretty it is. I've used it for today's card as well as the great sketch on the CAS(e) This Sketch challenge blog.



I also used Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush card stock from the 2013-2015 in colors. These sweet pastels go so well together. I used the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder to add some texture to the Whisper White panel and the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder to add texture to the Crisp Cantaloupe stripe.

I love the Petite Petals set and matching punch! I thought a few Strawberry Slush flowers with Basic Pearl centers would complete the design.

Nacho Thank You

This week's Nacho Average challenge has a set of yummy colors. Lookie!





I remembered that I had a piece of diagonally striped Baked Brown Sugar DSP in my scrap box, so I started with that. I embossed the Pool Party panel with the Stylish Stripes embossing folder. I thought the Watercolor Thank You Stamp would look great in an oval and I really like how it turned out. I added a Very Vintage Designer Button with some Linen Thread, along with a stripe of Pool Party 1/4" Cotton Ribbon.

Criss-Cross Thank You

This week's challenge on the Create with Connie and Mary blog is a sketch challenge. I saw the sketch and knew right away that my lonely washi tapes were going to come in handy. I have all my washi right on my desk in front of me, hoping to be inspired to use them. But they just sit there mocking me. Well, not today washi; not today.

Retro Thank You

Wow! It's been a long time since I've played along with the Retro Sketches challenge blog. I can't let that happen again. I love the sketches here and the great artwork of the Retro Sketches design team! Here's this week's sketch.



I wanted to use the "Watercolor Thank You" a la carte stamp in a different way--well, different than using a color wash background. I had a piece of the diagonal striped "Typeset" DSP on my desk and thought that would fill the bill nicely. I noticed the sketch had the sentiment under the two squares, so I pulled out my fave sentiment from the "Timeless Talk" set. I thought it was ironic to have a BIG thank you as the main image and a tiny "Thanks BIG Time!" sentiment. I had to add some bling, too. I just couldn't help myself!

The guests will make a simpler version--just the watercolor wash, the "Watercolor Thank You" stamp, and the washi tape on Whisper White card stock. I wanted to show them how to go from simple to stepped up with a few extra layers and accessories.
