Pink Birthday Blossoms

#stampinup  A long time ago, I read a book. (I've read many by books, by the way. Not just the one.) I think it was The Thorn Birds. In it, one of the characters described a room she had just decorated and it was in pink and green. She said something like, "I know it sounds awful, but it's beautiful." Well, I love a good pink and green combo. For this week's Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge, my pallet is Melon Mambo and Mossy Meadow....with a little Blushing Bride and Mint Macaron thrown in.



I started with the basic split banner/arrow. I looked at the design team's posts to see how they'd made the banner. I thought maybe they had used the Banner Triple Punch, but no one mentioned it. So I thought I'd give it a whirl. I cut a 6" x 1.5" of English Garden Designer Series Paper and pushed it through and past the back of the punch, like this:

That worked pretty well. If you're going to try it, remember which way you're going to adhere the DSP. You might need to rotate the design so that it cuts correctly. (Make sure you know which side will be "up" and punch accordingly.) And be gentle as you push the DSP through the punch and tug the end. I snagged my first try. I adhered this to a Mossy Meadow panel.

Next, I stamped the pansy from the "Birthday Blossoms" stamp set in Melon Mambo onto Blushing Bride card stock and punched it with the Pansy Punch. I stamped the leaves in Mossy Meadow onto Mint Macaron card stock and fussy cut them out. I attached the leaves and pansy to DSP banner with a couple of Stampin' Dimensionals. 

Using my trusty Stamp-a-Ma-Jig, I stamped the "happy birthday" in Mossy Meadow onto the Mossy Meadow panel. I attached this whole assembly to a Melon Mambo mat and added a length of Melon Mambo 1/4" Cotton Ribbon, slipping it under the leaves and pansy. I attached this all to a Mint Macaron card base.
