Peaceful Sparkles

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   One of my favorite stampers is Ilina Crouse over at the Creativity Within blog. She is simply amazing--you need to head on over there and check out her artwork. I promise, you will be so glad you did!

When Stampin' Up released the "Carols of Christmas" stamp set in August and we could get it early, loads of demonstrators got it and the matching Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies and they started posting all their awesome cards. Ilina posted a card that was so gorgeous, I knew I would CASE it and that we'd be making it at one of the Christmas card making classes. Look at this beautiful card!!!
It's so easy to make with the Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies. Here's how. I started with a Night of Navy Card Stock card base and added a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" mat of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. Then I took a 3-3/4" by 5" piece of Night of Navy Card Stock and placed the nighttime thinlit at the top and the three trees near the bottom and ran it through the Big Shot. So easy and so awesome. Adhering card stock to glimmer paper can be tricky, so I used some strategically placed glue dots at the top and on the bottom corners and that seems to have done the trick.

Next, I stamped the "peace on earth" sentiment from the "Carols of Christmas" stamp set in Night of Navy Ink onto a Whisper White Card Stock piece and cut it out with one of the Stitched Shapes Framelits. I adhered this piece to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
See those little hearts? They're the "droppings" from the nighttime framelit. I used a tiny drop of Fine-Tip Glue and dropped those little hearts in place. I think that was the perfect finishing touch!!

Merry Carols

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   The "Carols of Christmas" stamp set was available for pre-order before the Stampin' Up Holiday Catalog came out.  Customers got to order it a month before the catalog debut, but demonstrators got to order it two months early! That's one of the perks I love about being a Stampin' Up demonstrator--I'm in the know about upcoming items and I get to purchase and play with new toys before they're available for sale. If you like to be in the know and play with toys before the rest of your friends, you should contact me and we'll talk about the other fun reasons why YOU should join my team as a Stampin' Up demonstrator!

Way back in the summer, when the "Carols of Christmas" set was first available to demonstrators, the Stampin' Up Artisan Design Team did a blog hop featuring this set. Their creations are totally awesome! I'm pleased to say that my stampin' friend, Mindy Backes, is one of the Artisans. She truly deserves this honor--she's so inspirational in stamping, parenting, and her Christian faith. You can see her work on her website at Bada-Bing Paper Crafting. I knew that I was going to CASE Mindy's card someday--and today is the day!
My color scheme is based on the Be Merry Designer Series Paper that I used in place of the washi tape from Mindy's card. So, I started with a Garden Green Card Stock card base and a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Cherry Cobbler Card Stock mat. I cut the scalloped square mat from the center of the larger mat because it's covered with the 3-3/4" by 5" Whisper White panel.

I stamped the sentiment from "Carols of Christmas" in Garden Green Ink onto a Whisper White piece and added the flourishes from the same set in Cherry Cobbler. I cut this piece out with one of the Layering Squares Framelits and adhered it to the Cherry Cobbler scalloped square that I also cut with one of the Layering Squares Framelits.

See those strips of Be Merry DSP? Well, they came from my scrap pile! I have used the entire package of this DSP in two of my Christmas card-making classes, except for some scraps. I cut them down to different widths and tore the edges so they'd resemble the washi that Mindy used on her card.
To finish the card, I adhered the stamped element to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals and added three Garden Green Enamel Stars to the card. I think it turned out kind of cute!

A Christmas Prototype

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   Can you believe it's August already? I reserved Fridays in July to share Christmas cards--but I have so many to share that I'm going to keep the Christmas Fridays going through August, too!  Today's card is a prototype of one that we'll be making at one of my four Christmas card making classes in August, September, October, and November. I'm going to change this design up a little for my class, but this is the general idea!
I stamped the "Peace on Earth" sentiment from the "Carols of Christmas" stamp in Soft Suede onto a  piece Whisper White Card Stock. After I stamped the sentiment, I cut it out with a square Stitched Shapes Framelit and adhered it to a scalloped square of Soft Suede Card Stock that I cut with one of the Layering Squares Framelits.

Next, I ran a 3-3/4" by 5" piece of Whisper White Card Stock through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder. I adhered this to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" piece of Soft Suede Card Stock. I wrapped a length of Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon around these pieces before adhering them to a Powder Pink Card Stock card base.

I cut the sweet, tiny deer from the Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies that coordinate with the "Carols of Christmas" set. In fact, you can purchase these two items in a bundle and save 10% over purchasing each of them separately. The two items are from the Holiday catalog that goes "live" on September 1, 2017--but you can buy this bundle NOW! Ask me how!

I added the sentiment piece to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. And added the deer with a Glue Dot.

PROTIP: I actually cut the scalloped square AND the reindeer out of the Soft Suede mat. Lookie here!!

If you'd like to join in on my Christmas card making sessions, all the info is on the tab at the top of this blog. If you're not local to Ellicott City, MD, and want a long distance option, contact me and we can work something out!
