Buh-Bye Powder Pink

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   Today we're bidding goodbye to one of the retiring 2017-2019 In Colors--Powder Pink.  This is such a sweet color and, I'll miss it, of course. I really like to pair a pink with a gray. That is such a classic and timeless color combination.

One of my daughter's friends is getting married soon and, naturally, I wanted to make her a card. I thought a combination of pink and gray would be perfect. So I grabbed some card stock and the Detailed Floral Thinlits (retiring) and got to work. Here's how it turned out.

I started with a 4" by 5-1/4" Powder Pink Card Stock (retiring) panel and used the Detailed Floral Thinlits (retiring) to cut the pattern. I stamped a sentiment from the "Dragonfly Dreams" stamp set (retiring) in Basic Gray Ink onto the center of the panel. I used the Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere the die-cut panel to a Smoky Slate Card Stock card base.

To finish the card, I tied a cute bow from Gray Granite 1/2" Textured Weave Ribbon and adhered it to the card with a couple of Glue Dots.  Then I added some pink Share What You Love Artisan Pearls (retiring) for that special touch. I hope the bride and groom will like their card--but more than that I wish them many blessings for a happily married life!

My Wonderful Friend

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   When I got into this crazy stampin' business almost 20 years ago, my goal was to develop my skills so that I could give my BFF, Lynn, a run for her money. She is one of the most creative people I know and I pale by comparison. Twenty years later, I still haven't caught up to her, but I have improved immensely. Sometimes a little friendly competition is just what you need to stretch and grow in just about any endeavor.

I was surprised to find a card in the mail from Lynn last week. See, she's a wonderful artist, but she doesn't have that follow-through to get a card in the mail. I noticed that her hubby had addressed it. He's good like that. In the past, Lynn has also given me cards and stamps and asked me to get them addressed and in the mail. I'm good like that, too.

Anyway, Lynn sent me the card to thank me for a little thing I'd done for her--a thing for which I did not need thanks. But I was so pleased that she sent me one of her beautiful creations. And I'm pleased to share that creation with you!
Isn't that card gorgeous?! I tell ya: everything Lynn makes is a work of art! Lynn used the gorgeous "Lilypad Lake" and matching Lakeside Framelits to make this card. She stamped the crane in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock and added some subtle coloring with her Bermuda Bay and Grapefruit Grove Stampin' Write Markers. She gave him some shine with some Wink of Stella.

Next, Lynn sponged Lovely Lipstick, Pineapple Punch, and Bermuda Bay Inks onto Whisper White Card Stock, overlapping them a bit so they blended. She stamped over the Bermuda Bay with the wavy stamp from "Lilypad Lake" that was inked with a Versamark pad and stamped the sun in Grapefruit Grove. She "roughed up" the sun with her sponge so that it looks like it's shimmering in the sky. She cut out this piece with a Layering Oval Thinlit.

Lynn used a slightly larger Layering Oval Thinlit to cut an oval out of the center of a 4" by 5-1/4" Bermuda Bay panel and then embossed it with the Seaside Embossing Folder. She adhered this to a 4-1/8" by 5-3/8" Basic Black Card Stock mat. She tied on a length of Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain Ribbon and then used Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere this to a Bermuda Bay Card Stock card base.

Lynn adhered her stamped oval piece and the crane to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. She stamped a sentiment  from the "Dragonfly Dreams" stamp set in Versamark onto a 1/2" strip of Basic Black Card Stock, sprinkled on some White Stampin' Emboss Powder, and set it with her Heat Tool. She used her Paper Snips to flag the end of this piece before adhering it directly to the card.

For a finishing touch, Lynn added three Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins to the oval.

I love this card, but I love my BFF even more!!

Happy Mother's Day

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   So, I'm just a day late for Mother's Day--and I got my card in the mail late, too. But it's the thought that counts, right? My darling husband sent his mother some yummy chocolate dipped strawberries that arrived in time for Mother's Day. But the card, well, I just didn't have a lot of mojo last week, so I waited until the last moment to make it and get it in the mail.

My hubby and I spent a whirlwind few days a couple of weeks ago. We drove two days to Arkansas to pick up our twins from their first year of college. We spent the 24 hours we were in Arkansas cleaning their rooms, packing their stuff, making a bajillion trips to the storage unit, getting a tire patched since we ran over a screw somewhere, and having a couple of family meals. Then we drove home for two days. It was exhausting. And when I got home, I was still super exhausted (or lazy) for the following week. I didn't even open the door to my stamping room--until I realized that I needed to get a card made and in the mail for my mother-in-law. Yikes! But I had one in mind and I pulled it together pretty quickly. It uses some continuing products and some retiring products. What do you think?
My mother-in-law loves purple, so I thought I'd use some Elegant Eggplant Ink and Card Stock for a last time before it retires. I stamped the dragonfly from the "Dragonfly Dreams" stamp set in Elegant Eggplant Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock and cut it out with the coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Framelit. I tousled some Gold Thread and adhered it to the back of the dragonfly before using Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the dragonfly to a Whisper White square cut with one of the Stitched Shapes Framelits. I adhered that to an Elegant Eggplant square cut with one of the Layering Squares Framelits.

I stamped a flourish from the continuing "Timeless Textures" stamp set in Elegant Eggplant, twice, onto a 3-3/4" by 5" Whisper White panel and adhered it to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Elegant Eggplant panel. Then I adhered this to a Thick Whisper White Card Stock card base. I adhered the dragonfly element to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Next, I stamped a sentiment from the "Dragonfly Dreams" set in Versamark onto a 1/2" strip of Elegant Eggplant Card Stock. I sprinkled on some White Stampin' Emboss Powder and set it with my Heat Tool.  I flagged the ends with my Paper Snips and then added this to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. For a finishing touch, I added some Glitter Enamel Dots.

REMINDER: Retiring stamp sets will only be guaranteed to be available until May 25. All other products are NOT guaranteed and are only available while supplies last. ALL retiring items will be discontinued after May 31.
