#stampinup  I subscribe to Julie's (Davison) Stamping Spot because Julie has such creative ideas. I'm always finding ideas to CASE. Julie is an amazing paper-crafter! When I opened today's email, I saw a simple layout that was easy to CASE--and, glory be!--Julie is hosting a challenge! You know I'm a sucker for a challenge!




I started out in a different direction, using different Christmas designer series paper, but before I got too far, I decided I didn't like it. So, I opted, instead, to use the gorgeous Winter Wonderland Specialty Series Paper and the Winter Wonderland Vellum Stack. 

I cut a Basic Black card base and a Whisper White panel. I cut a piece of Winter Wonderland Vellum the same size as the Whisper White panel and adhered it with some strategically placed Glue Dots. Then I added a 3" x 4-1/4" piece of Winter Wonderland Specialty Series Paper and wrapped a length of Gold Glitter Ribbon around. 

I stamped a sentiment from the "Versatile Christmas" set in Basic Black Archival Ink on Whisper White and cut out the banner with the second largest Banner Framelit. 

To finish the design. I wound some Gold Metallic Thread around my fingers and adhered it to the card. I added a Basic Gold Button with a couple of Glue Dots.

I think these papers and ribbons are so beautiful! I'm going to be sad when they retire soon!

Rejoicing Dove

#stampinup   I've said it before, but it bears repeating here: I hate to color. I'm just not satisfied with the results. But, I keep trying and sometimes I'm almost happy. Almost.

The "Dove of Peace" stamp in the Holiday Mini catalog just calls out to be colored. So I listened and tried my hand at some coloring. I was inspired by Brian King's Blue Dove of Peace. I just loved these colors together!

I thought this would be a good image to use with this week's Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge. 



I started with a Lost Lagoon card base, added a Soft Sky mat that I embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder, and then added a square of Mint Macaron. I stamped a sentiment from "Versatile Christmas" in Lost Lagoon onto this square. Then I tied on a length of the White Glitter Ribbon.

I stamped my dove in Lost Lagoon onto Thick Whisper White Card Stock. I colored him with Marina Mist, Mint Macaron, Lost Lagoon, Wild Wasabi, and Soft Sky Stampin' Write Markers. Then I fussy cut him.

I adhered the dove to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. If you don't look too closely, I think my coloring is okay satisfactory pretty good.

Christmas Preview #6

#stampinup  Here's the last of 6 cards we'll be making at the October and November Christmas card-making class. You'll have to come to the sessions to know which ones we'll be making at each session. This Saturday's session is going to be a "no Big Shot" session. I know! Two "no Big Shot" sessions! How did I do that?!

This card is a CASE of a card I received at the #StampinUp #InspireCreateShare #Convention2015 from Jan Reid. Jan's card used the "Circle of Spring" wreath and was done in Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler. My card uses the "Peaceful Wreath" stamp set and I switched out the Crumb Cake and used Whisper White instead.

I started with a Whisper White Thick card stock base, added an Old Olive mat, and a Cherry Cobbler panel embossed with the Brick Wall Embossing Folder. I stamped the wreath in Mossy Meadow onto Whisper White card stock and cut it out with the matching Wonderful Wreath Framelits. I colored in the leaves with an Old Olive Stampin' Write Marker and the berries with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write Marker and attached the wreath to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I stamped a sentiment from the "Versatile Christmas" set in Cherry Cobbler onto a 1" strip of Whisper White and flagged the end with the Banner Triple Punch. I added this to a 1.5" strip of Merry Moments Designer Series paper that I also flagged with the Banner Triple Punch. The sentiment assembly was adhered to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Finally, I stamped the bow from the "Peaceful Wreath" set in Basic Black Archival Ink onto a Cherry Cobbler scrap and cut it out with the matching framelit from the Wonderful Wreath collection. I adhered the bow to the wreath with a glue dot.

Christmas Card Preview #3

#stampinup   Today's card is similar to a card that Sara Douglass demonstrated at the #InspireCreateShare Stampin' Up #Convention2015.

I started with a 3" x 5.5" piece of plaid Designer Series Paper from the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper Stack (Holiday Catalog). I stamped the pines from the "Wonderland" stamp set in Mossy Meadow right on the DSP. I know! Who would have thought to do that? (Yeah, just about everyone. Humor me.) I cut a 3-1/4" x 5.5" piece of Mossy Meadow card stock to use as a mat and adhered this to a Real Red card base.

Next, I stamped a sentiment from the "Versatile Christmas" set in Real Red onto a Whisper White scrap and punched it out with the Large Oval Punch. I cut a 3/4" x 4" piece of striped Merry Moments DSP (Annual Catalog) and flagged the end with the Hexagon Punch. I adhered this piece to the bottom of the pines and added the oval label with Stampin' Dimesionals.

To finish the card, I cut a length of Real Red 1/8" Striped Ribbon and tied a small bow. I adhered this to the card with a Glue Dot.
