Creation Station: From Simple to Artfully Stepped Up

#stampinup   #creationstation   #faithfulinkspirations

I'm so glad that we're stepping into September and leaving summer behind. I love the fresh fall days that lead into my favorite season (winter). Summer is OK and all, but give me sweater weather any time!

For our September Creation Station challenge we're to create two cards:  one that is ultra simple and a second is a stepped up version of the first. Well, I'm a little "extra" myself, so I've done an extra card for you. I've created a simple stamping card, a card for the avid stamper, and then the over the top stepped up card.

I don't know about you, but I have trouble with "simple" cards. I always want to put an extra sprig of baby's breath or a bird on it KWIM? But I like the way my simple card turned out! And it's just stamps, ink, and paper--what could be more simple than that?

I used the "Words of Cheer" stamp set from the July to December Mini Catalog. I love that set and the font for the sentiment is one of my favorites! I stamped the floral outline image in Mossy Meadow Ink onto a 3-3/4" by 5" Basic White Card Stock panel. The sentiment is also stamped in Mossy Meadow. I used Blushing Bride Ink to fill in the flowers with the coordinating stamp and to stamp the dots around the panel. I adhered this to a 4" by 5-1/4" Mossy Meadow Card Stock mat and then onto a Blushing Bride Card Stock card base. Simple--but quite pretty!

My stepped up version uses the same layout, but I added some extras to, you know, step it up!

For this card, I stamped the floral image in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Basic White Card Stock and cut it out with the matching Christmas Cheer Die. (You can get the "Words of Cheer" stamp set and coordinating Christmas Cheer Dies in a bundle--item 156389--for 10% off the individual purchase price.) I colored the flowers with Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo and Light and Dark Petal Pink Stampin' Blends. I colored the berries with the Light Petal Pink Blend and the greenery with Light and Dark Mossy Meadow Blends. I added a 1-1/2" by 4" strip of the simply gorgeous Whimsy and Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper and wrapped a length of Blushing Bride Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon around. I used Stampin' Dimensionals to add the floral element to the card. Pretty, huh? But, wait! I really went over the top for my next card!

For my final card, everything is the same as the stepped up card except that after I colored the flowers, I brushed on Clear Wink of Stella to give them some shine. Who doesn't love shiny things?! Speaking of shiny, I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to add Subtle Shimmer Sequins to the card and to all the berries on the floral element. For a little more shine, I added a second ribbon--a length of my favorite White Glittered Organdy Ribbon. Finally, I cut some greenery elements from Vellum Card Stock using the Christmas Cheer Dies and tucked them behind the floral element. The Christmas Cheer Dies allow you to cut three greenery pieces at once. Isn't this card fun?!

I hope you've enjoyed my simple to stepped up to over the top card creations and I know you'll love what the phenomenal Elizabeth Price has in store for you! See you next month!
