Pretty in Pink

For today's card, I went back to one of my all-time favorite color combinations: Pink Pirouette, Soft Suede and Crumb Cake. That's fitting, because I'm playing in this week's Retro Sketches challenge!



I've been wanting to try a technique I saw on Jen Arkfeld's blog and I had extra time to play over the 3-day weekend. Jen stamped the Blended Bloom flower onto Crumb Cake card stock, set it with white embossing powder, and then colored it with Blendabilities. I know, right?! Who'd a-thunk? It's stunning! I just got a set of NEW Pink Pirouette Blendabilities and knew I had to try them. To play along with the Retro sketch, I stamped my Blended Bloom in Versamark off-set at the top left-hand corner. I sprinkled on the magical White Stampin' Emboss Powder and heat set the image with my heat tool. Then I used the lightest Pink Pirouette Blendie and colored just inside each petal. I let it dry (OK, I used the heating tool to speed the process) and then I took the mid-range Blendie and colored in the little spaces and the centers of the petals. I let that dry (heat set) and then colored over everything with the darkest Blendie. So, so, so, pretty!!!

I stamped the sentiment from the Kind Eclectic set in Soft Suede onto a piece of Whisper White card stock and then used the Essentials Piercing Pack and my Piercing Tool to pierce holes around the edge. I mounted this with a little piece of my FAVE Pink Pirouette Seam Binding and a Tea Lace Paper Doily onto the Crumb Cake panel. I used my Envelope Punch Board to round just the top right-hand corner of the Crumb Cake panel and the Pink Pirouette card base.

Off the Edge CAS

The artists over at Addicted to Clean and Simple have come up with a great code word for this fortnight's challenge: Off the Edge. Several of the design team used a floral theme on Whisper White cardstock. I followed their lead. 

My BFF, Lynn Birus, did a "master class" (what I called it) on how to use Stampin' Up's new Blendabilities markers during my recent new catalog open house. When she was finished with her flower, she fussy cut it and then used the darkest Cherry Cobbler Blendabilties marker to color the edge. Whoa! Was that gorgeous! Lynn gave me the flower and it sat on my stamping desk for just the right time to use it.

I embossed a plain Whisper White card base with the Honeycomb Embossing folder then adhered Lynn's beautiful flower to the card and then {gasp!} cut off the flower so that it was even with the edge of the card base. I added a butterfly that I stamped in Black Stazon ink and then "colored" with Dazzling Details. 

I think the black and white with the BIG pop of color is just stunning (if I do say so myself!)
