Simple Beauty

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   #ManicMonday   #simplestamping  Stampin' Up has challenged us demonstrators to create cards for the beginning stamper. Our July challenge is to use only stamps, ink, paper, and designer series paper. Let me tell you: getting back to basics is hard...but I do like a clean and simple design, so I have that going for me. Today's card started with a 2" by 7" strip of Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper. I got my color inspiration from the DSP and then I went with the idea.
Honestly, I started with a Whisper White Card Stock panel and I didn't like it, so I switched it to a 2-1/2" by 4" Petal Pink Card Stock panel and that was a game changer--I mean, look at the DSP--it's Petal Pink with Mossy Meadow line art. I stamped the floral flourish from the "Beauty Abounds" stamp set in Mossy Meadow Ink onto the Petal Pink panel. I stamped the "hello" sentiment in Mossy Meadow, too. I adhered this to a 2-5/8" by 4-1/8" Whisper White Card Stock mat (which may or may not have a failed stamping experiment on it).

Next, I adhered the DSP to the side of the panel. I didn't like how plain it was, so I folded it back and forth at about every half inch. I adhered this to the back of the stamped panel.

I adhered a 2-1/2" by 4-1/4 piece of Mossy Meadow Card Stock onto a Petal Pink Car Stock card base. Then I used Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere my stamped panel and DSP ruffle.

I really like how this ended up--after a bit of experimenting!

And now a word from our sponsor. Stampin' Up has TWO amazing promotions going on right now. The first is July Bonus Days: for every $50 you spend before July 31 (before shipping and tax), you will earn a $5 Bonus Days coupon code that can be used August 1–31. How cool is that?

The second promotion gives you Extra, Extra Stampin' Up merchandise when you join my team during July or August. The cost of the new demonstrator starter kit is $99--but from now until August 31, new demonstrators will receive an additional $30--which means you can put $155 of any Stampin' Up merch you'd like in your new demonstrator starter kit. And the month after you sign up, you’ll receive a $10 coupon code to spend the following month.

Contact me today for details about either of these offers!

Fab Colors

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   #WednesdayChallenge   #FabFri166   Stampin' Up debuted their new 2019-2021 In Colors with the new catalog on June 1st. (I can't believe I just typed "2021." That seems so far away, doesn't it?) Those colors are Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile, Pretty Peacock, Seaside Spray, and Purple Posy.  I never thought of using these colors together--until I was challenged to do so by the Fab Friday Design Team. And so I did!
I have to admit that I CASEd the idea from Fab Friday design team member Brian King. I've been a bit stymied by the "Beauty Abounds" stamp set, so I pinned a bunch of examples on Pinterest. I love Brian's clean and simple design, so I tried it with the new In Colors and I think they work well together on this card. I stamped off the Rococo Rose twice because it is to much bolder than the Seaside Spray and Purple Posy. The Whisper White Layer is 3-3/4" by 5" and it's adhered to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Pretty Peacock Card Stock mat. The card base is Terracotta Tile.

I stamped a sentiment from the "Varied Vases" stamp set in Pretty Peacock Ink onto Whisper White and cut it out with one of the Stitched Shapes Dies. I adhered this to a scalloped Purple Posy Card Stock circle that i cut with a Layering Circles Die. I adhered this piece to the card with Stampn' Dimensionals.

For a finishing touch, I added four Basic Rhinestone Jewels, 'cause I like me some bling!

Thanks to the Fab Friday Design Team for challenging me to stamp outside my box and a special thanks to Brian for the inspiring design!

Abounding Thanks

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   Have you missed me? I think I've been hibernating this winter. I just haven't had the get-up-and-go to do much of anything--not even stamping! I've just been chilling around the house. Maybe that's what my mind and body need. But my mind also needs to create and I've missed my stamping room and all my fun toys. So this long weekend gave me time to make some cards from the Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs. I'll be using these in an upcoming stamp-a-stack hosted by one of my friends.

First up is a card made with the "Beauty Abounds" stamp set. This set has so many pretty elements. I chose to go clean and simple and only used three of the stamps in the set. Let me tell you, this clean and simple card was HARD for me to make. I had an idea, but it took a while to get it onto the paper just the way I wanted it. I made several similar cards before I was satisfied. Does that ever happen to you? Here's my final product. What do you think?

I stamped the floral spray in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink diagonally onto a 3-3/4" by 5" Whisper White panel. I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black, too. The butterfly is stamped in Coastal Cabana Ink. I used a Blender Pen to color the leaves in Granny Apple Green and the flowers in Flirty Flamingo.

I adhered this to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Flirty Flamingo Card Stock mat and then wrapped a length of Flirty Flamingo Ribbon from the All My Love Ribbon Combo Pack. I adhered this to a 4" by 5-1/4" Granny Apple Green Card Stock mat and then onto a Thick Whisper White Card Stock card base, cut lengthwise.

For the finishing touches, I tucked a half Pearlized Doily under the ribbon and added three Rhinestone Jewels among the leaves of the floral spray.

I think I finally nailed this design--but it certainly was a long time in the making!

Our Friendship

#stampinup   #saleabration2019   #faithfulinkspirations   Have you seen the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper that you can earn for FREE with a qualifying purchase during Sale-a-Bration?! It's gorgeous! And, if you don't like butterflies all that much, the reverse side has beautiful black and white patterns!
I love the sheet of DSP that I chose for this card. It's so pretty that I decided to let it shine as the star of the card! I started by adhering a 3-3/4" by 5" piece of the Botanical Butterfly DSP to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Basic Black Card Stock mat.

I stamped a sentiment from the "Beauty Abounds" stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a Whisper White Card Stock. I cut this out with one of the new Rectangle Stitched Framelits (LOVE them). I also cut a larger rectangle of Basic Black Card Stock to use as a mat. PROTIP: Cut the rectangle mat out of the center of your larger mat before adhering the DSP on top.

I adhered the sentiment piece to the Basic Black rectangle piece with Stampin' Dimensionals and I used Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the assembly to the DSP piece. I wrapped a length of Basic Black Shimmer Ribbon around everything before adhering it to a Crumb Cake Card Stock card base.

Isn't this pretty? It's such an easy card--especially when you start with a beautiful piece of free DSP!!
