Hoppy Birthday

#stampinup   #saleabration2019   #faithfulinkspirations   You know, I didn't really like the "So Hoppy Together" stamp set when I first saw it. But it's growing on me. Maybe because simply everyone loves those whimsical frogs! And I have to admit that they're fun to color with Stampin' Blends. Let's take a look at a cute birthday card I made for an upcoming stamp-a-stack.

I started by stamping the frog and the flies in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Thick Whisper White Card Stock. I put both stamps on the same block and stamped them together. I colored the frog with a Light Shaded Spruce Stampin' Blend and a Light Calypso Coral Stampin' Blend. I cut out the frog with one of the Stitched Shapes Framelits and adhered that to a Fresh Fig Card Stock scalloped circle cut with one of the Layering Circles Framelits.

Next, I cut two smaller circles from Thick Whisper White Card Stock using a Stitched Shapes Framelit. On one circle, I stamped the dragonfly in Tuxedo Black and colored it with the Light Shaded Spruce and Light Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends.  For the sentiment piece, I colored directly onto the "hoppy for you" stamp with a Fresh Fig Stampin' Write Marker and stamped it onto the circle. Then I inked up "birthday" from the "Thoughtful Banners" stamp set in Calypso Coral Ink and stamped that right below "hoppy." Both of these are adhered to a Fresh Fig scalloped circle cut with a smaller Layering Circles Framelit.

To build the card I adhered a 3-3/4" by 5" Calypso Coral Card Stock mat that I embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder onto a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Fresh Fig Card Stock mat. (PROTIP: Cut the scalloped circles from this mat before assembly!!) I adhered these to a Thick Whisper White Card Stock card base.

I put a little Snail Adhesive at the bottom of the card and zig-zagged a 12" length of Fresh Fig 1/8" Sheer Ribbon on top. I adhered all three circles with Stampin' Dimensionals. And I added one Clear Faceted Gem to the frog piece, just for fun.

Fall Still Life

#stampinup     #faithfulinkspirations   Have you ever paged through the Stampin' Up catalog and found a stamp set or embellishment that you'd missed the first dozen times you looked? I do that all the time. In the current catalog, I've practically overlooked all the cool background stamps we offer. I know they're there, but I just flip on by. And then I see a card where someone has used a background stamp and I take another look.

Today's card uses the Burlap Background Stamp that I've overlooked, oh, I can't tell you how many times! I think it's used to great effect in this card that we made at the Proverbial Stampers get together.
We started by stamping a 4" by 5-1/4" piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock using the Burlap Background Stamp and Crumb Cake Ink. I stamped this image off to the side a bit so that the fringed edges would show. We adhered this to an Early Espresso Card Stock card base.

Next, we stamped several images from the "Pick a Pumpkin" stamp set onto a 2-5/8" Very Vanilla square cut with one of the Stitched Shapes Framelits. We used Tangerine Tango, Early Espresso, and Old Olive Ink. We also stamped another Tangerine Tango pumpkin onto a Very Vanilla scrap and cut it out with the matching Patterned Pumpkins Thinlit Die. We adhered this element to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

We stamped a sentiment from the "Thoughtful Banners" set in Early Espresso onto an Old Olive strip and punched it out with the Modern Label Punch. We adhered this to the card with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

Finally, we tied a bow into a length of Linen Thread and adhered it to the card with a Glue Dot.

What a nice, fall-themed thank you note this turned out to be!!

Holiday Tree

#stampinup    #faithfulinkspirations   One of my favorite sets from the annual catalog is "Vertical Greetings." There's just something about those long trees that really speaks to me. When I saw that one of my favorite stampers, Brian King, had created a Christmas card using that set, I was inspired to CASE (copy and selectively edit) his card!!

I started with a 1" by 4" strip of Whisper White Card Stock. I used Always Artichoke, Early Espresso, and Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Markers to color directly onto the stamp. I gave the stamp a few puffs of my hot breath to re-wet the ink and then stamped.  I added the sentiment from the "Thoughtful Banners" set in Cherry Cobbler. I adhered this piece to a 1-1/8" by 4-1/8" piece of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock.

Next, I added a 2-1/2" by 3-7/8" piece of Be Merry Designer Series Paper to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" piece of Always Artichoke Card Stock. I tied a length of Whisper White Classic Weave Ribbon onto this piece before adhering it to a Crumb Cake Card Stock card base, cut lengthwise.

Finally, I adhered the stamped tree to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals and popped on a Gold Faceted Gem. Cute!
