Creation Station: Tool Time!

#stampinup   #creationstation   #faithfulinkspirations   I don't know whether you're old enough to remember the 1990's sitcom, "Home Improvement," or whether you've watched re-runs on MeTV, but I used to love that show--and I still do! For those not familiar with it, the show centers around a television show called "Tool Time" starring Tim "The Toolman" Taylor and sponsored by Binford Tools. Binford had a tool for everything--not unlike Stampin' Up which has a tool for every stamper's needs!

This month our design team is featuring Stampin' Up's amazing tools. Our artisans will be sharing tips and tricks that YOU can use in your stamping.

I had a hard time choosing which tool I was going to use, but I decided that I'd feature some techniques using the Heat Tool because I love to heat emboss! So here goes!

I stamped two of the flowers from the "Tasteful Touches" stamp set in Versamark Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock. I sprinkled on some Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder and set the images with my Heat Tool.

Next, I used another of my favorite tools, a Water Painter, to pick up some Rococo Rose Ink that I squeezed onto the lid of the ink pad and colored the flowers. (Shh! that's the retired Aqua Painter...) I used a tissue to wipe of any excess ink that got onto the embossed design.

After I'd added color to the flowers, I used my Paper Snips--another tool fave--to fussy cut the flowers. I really love to fussy cut. I think you either love the zen of it, or you just find fussing cutting to be a chore. What do you think? Zen or chore?

Before I get on with the card, I want to tell you about a crafting fail that I turned it a crafting genius piece of inspiration. I'd initially wanted to do use a faux patina background for the card, but I used too much Versamark and too much embossing powder and it didn't turn out the way I'd envisioned it. I tossed that piece into my "card parts" pile. But as I was building my card for today's blog hop, I realized I could use parts of that piece, rather than the whole piece, so I used one of the Tasteful Labels Dies to cut out an element to feature on the card.

To make that faux patina element, I rubbed Crumb Cake Ink onto the Tin Tile 3D embossing folder and then embossed a piece of Whisper White Card Stock. Next, I sponged on Coastal Cabana Ink, then Mossy Meadow, then Early Espresso. Then I dabbed the Versamark Ink pad directly onto the paper, sprinkled on Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder, and set it with the Heat Tool.

Then I went a little crazy with the gold embossing! I pressed some In Good Taste Elements leaves into Versamark, sprinkled on Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder, and set it with the Heat Tool. I stamped a sentiment from the "Tasteful Touches" stamp set in Versamark onto Rococo Rose Card Stock and embossed that in gold. Then, I pressed one of the Tasteful Label dies into the Versamark Ink Pad and used it to cut out the label--this left Versamark around the outside of the label so that I could emboss that in gold as well. I was so happy when that worked out!!

To build the card, I started with a Rococo Rose Card Stock card base, cut lengthwise. I adhered a 4" by 5-1/4" piece of In Good Taste Designer Series Paper to a 4-1/8 by 5-3/8" piece of Early Espresso Card Stock and wrapped a length of Rococo Rose Scalloped Linen Ribbon around and adhered this to the card base.

I arranged the elements on the card and used a variety of adhesives to adhere them to the card--Stampin' Seal for the faux patina element; Multipurpose Liquid Glue for the wooden leaves; and Stampin' Dimensionals for the flowers and sentiment.

To finish the card, I guess I thought there needed to be MORE gold, so I added three gold Gilded Gems.

Textured Hello

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   I've got another cute card for you today that uses the wonderful In Good Taste Designer Series Paper that I'm in love with. There are so many textures in this paper and it is so versatile that I reach for it for almost every card. Take a look at the set of papers.

Today's card mixes the petal pink sheet with one of the wood grain sheets and uses a sentiment from the "Tasteful Touches" stamp set.

I started with a 4" by 5-1/4" Whisper White Card Stock panel and adhered two 1-1/4" by 2" wood grain pieces and two 1-1/4" by 2" petal pink textures pieces from the In Good Taste DSP. Then I adhered the panel to a Petal Pink Card Stock card base.

I stamped a sentiment from the "Tasteful Touches" stamp set in Early Espresso Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock and cut it out with one of the Tasteful Labels Dies. I adhered a length of Early Espresso Faux Suede Trim to the back of the label and then adhered the label to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. I finished the card by adding three Gilded Gems.

The DSP is gorgeous and it's becoming my go-to for projects. I've used two sheets of it on today's card along with the "Tasteful Touches" stamp set and coordinating Tasteful Labels Dies.

I adhered a 3" by 5-1/2" strip of the Night of Navy tile In Good Taste DSP to a Night of Navy Card Stock card base. Next, I stamped two flowers from the "Tasteful Touches" stamp set in Daffodil Delight Ink onto Whisper White Card Stock. I fussy cut these with my Paper Snips. I punched two sprigs with the Sprig Punch from Cinnamon Cider Card Stock. Then I stamped a sentiment from the "Tasteful Touches" set in Early Espresso Ink onto one of the wood image pieces of In Good Taste DSP and cut it out with a Tasteful Labels Die.

I adhered a length of Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim to the card; adhered the sprigs to the back of the label; and then adhered the label to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. I put a few more Stampin' Dimensionals on the back of the flowers and tucked them behind the label to finish the card.
