Simply Thankful

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   Today's card makes me so happy! I had a picture in my head about what I wanted to create but it turned out much, much better than I imagined! I'm in love with everything about this card! 

I started by stamping the large leaf from the "Colorful Seasons" stamp set in Versamark Ink on to scraps of Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry, and Old Olive Card Stock. I sprinkled on some Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder and set the the image with my Heat Tool. Then I used the matching Seasonal Layers Thinlit to cut out each leaf.

Next, I used the Subtle Embossing Folder to add some texture to a 3-3/4" by 5" Very Vanilla Card Stock panel. (I'm just not digging the "naked" card stock look any more!) Then, I stamped a sentiment from the "Country Home" stamp set in Rich Razzleberry Ink. I used the Stamparatus so that I could stamp the image a couple of times so the ink would fill into the nooks and crannies of the textured paper. I adhered this piece to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Rich Razzleberry Card Stock mat.

Then, I scattered the leaves onto the Very Vanilla mat and adhered them to the card with Snail Adhesive. I let them overhang the card stock panel and then cut off the over-hanging pieces.

To finish the card, I adhered everything to an Early Espresso Card Stock card base. Look at those colors and the shiny copper detail. Really? Can it get any more autumn-y??!!

Black-Eyed Susans

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   My darling daughter told me the other day that she loves seeing my Christmas cards, but she's wondering when I'm going to start doing some fall cards.  Well, yesterday's rustic thanks card was the start of some fall-ish cards. And today's card is another in the fall-ish family. 

The Maryland state flower is the Black-Eyed Susan. I remember going for walks with my grandmother and we'd pick these flowers along with Queen Anne's Lace and some others that grew naturally in our area. My granny knew the names of almost everything that grew nearby. She could also tell which of the greens would be good to eat and which of the mushrooms were good eatin' (and not poisonous). I wish I had paid attention to her, but I was so young then. But the Black-Eyed Susan's have always been some of my favorite flowers.

I created the flowers using Stampin' Up's "Daisy Delight" stamp set and matching Daisy Punch and, honestly, it was super easy! I stamped four daisies in Crushed Curry Ink onto Crushed Curry Card Stock and punched them out. I used a Blender Pen to pull some of the ink from the center of the flower, up the petals of the leaves. I curled the petals with my bone folder and then adhered two daisies together with Glue Dots. Then I stamped the center of the flower in Early Espresso Ink onto Early Espresso Card Stock. I punched this out with the 1/2" Circle Punch. Then I punched two 3/4" circles and two 1" circles from Early Espresso Card Stock. I fringed the edges of the larger flowers with my Paper Snips and then adhered them together in a stack. I adhered the centers to the flowers with Glue Dots.

Next, I wrapped a length of Copper Trim around a 5-1/2" by 2-5/8" strip of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, tucked a half Pearlized Daisy underneath, and adhered this to a Crumb Cake Card Stock card base. I stamped a sentiment from the "Daisy Delight" stamp set in Early Espresso Ink. I added the Black-Eyed Susans to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

My card turned out so cute. I'm glad my daughter suggested to do some fall-ish cards!

Rustic Note

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   I was so happy to see the Wood Textures 6" by 6" Designer Series Paper Stack carry over from last year's annual catalog to this year's catalog. There are so many cool wood texture choices, but my favorite is the whitewashed, beachy wood that I've used on today's card.

I started by perusing Pinterest for some ideas and I saw a similar card to the one I eventually created, but my card kind of grew organically as I put all the pieces together.

I started with a 3-3/4" by 5" piece of Wood Textures DSP. I stamped the floral image from the "Wood Words" stamp set directly onto the DSP in Early Espresso Ink and then adhered this to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Powder Pink mat. I adhered half a Pearlized Doily to the card and then wrapped a length of Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon around, covering the cut part of the doily. I then wrapped a length of 1/8" Fresh Fig Sheer Ribbon around the Powder Pink Ribbon, tying on a pretty bow. I adhered this to an Early Espresso Card Stock card base.

I stamped a sentiment from the "Wood Words" stamp set in Fresh Fig onto a Powder Pink strip and flagged the end with the Banner Triple Punch. I stamped the heart from the same set in Fresh Fig Ink onto Powder Pink Card Stock and cut it out with a small Stitched Shapes Framelit circle. I adhered these two elements to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

When I was finished, I thought that I should have stamped the floral image in Fresh Fig instead of Early Espresso--but then I got a bolt of inspiration! I used my Blender Pen to add Fresh Fig, Powder Pink, and Lemon Lime Twist to the flowers and leaves in the image and, wow, did that ever make the card pop! It's fun when you can go from, hmm, I dunno--to wow with just a little inspiration!
