Well, we have finally had some real fall whether here in central Maryland. It took a while to get here--we had a heat wave three plus days at 90F in a row) at the beginning of September. But the end of the month and beginning of October has just been glorious! The air is crisp. The sky is the bluest of blues. And the trees are just starting to turn. I'm wondering how the color will be this fall since the cicadas "tipped" most of the trees during their once-every-thirteen-years feeding and, um, reproducing frenzy. I'm hoping that doesn't have much of an impact, but we'll see.
Since our Creation Station design team is truly international, some of our designers are heading into spring! Our assignment for October is to stamp to match our season. I honestly began to despair because I don't have any fall sets--or do I? I'd totally forgotten that I had the "Welcoming Woods" set from the June to December Mini Catalog! Imagine my joy when I saw it on my stamp shelf. Huzzah!
I watched a few videos of Stampin' Up demonstrators creating beautiful sunsets behind the trees so I set about to do the same. I cut a 1" circle from a Post-It note using one of the Layering Circles Dies and adhered it to a 3-3/4" by 5" Basic White Card Stock piece. I used a Blending Brush--yep, just one brush in all the colors, and nope, I didn't clean it in between since the inks don't [usually] transfer from the brush--to swirl on Mango Melody, Calypso Coral, Cinnamon Cider, and Blackberry Bliss Inks. I also added Mossy Meadow Ink along the bottom to "ground" the trees.
I removed the Post-It, and swirled on some more Mango Melody Ink--that leaves a subtle circle outline for the sun.
I stamped the tree image onto this piece in Soft Suede Ink. PROTIP: Make sure you stamp the top of the trees off the top of your card stock, otherwise, they look like they've been lopped off at the top. I used Basic Gray Ink to stamp the shadow under the trees.
Next, I folded a baby wipe onto an acrylic block and dropped Rich Razzleberry, Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie, and Crushed Curry Ink to make a "custom" ink pad.
I stamped the leaves from the "Welcoming Woods" set into this pad and onto my trees. They turned out so pretty!
I adhered this piece to a 4" by 5-1/4" Soft Suede Card Stock mat and then onto a 4-1/8" by 5-3/8" Blackberry Bliss Card Stock mat.
I stamped the sentiment from the same set in Soft Suede Ink onto So Saffron Card Stock and cut it out with one of the Seasonal Labels Dies--also from the July to December Mini. The die was too long, so I shortened the label by repositioning the die and cutting the label again. I adhered this to the card with Early Espresso Suede Ribbon and a few Stampin' Dimensionals.
To finish the card, I added three Gold Metallic Pearls to the label.
I can't wait to see what the rest of our Creation Station Design Team has in store for us. Just click on the next button or visit Jeanna's blog post and you can begin your international seasonal trip around the world!
What a beautiful card! The techniques you used are so beautiful with this stamp set.
