Creation Station: Black & White with a POP!

I mean, it's October so we should be getting those nice, crisp days. But a few days ago--I'm not kidding--it was 97 degrees! I'm thankful for that cold front that swept through and brought us fall. 

Our Creation Station Design Team is bringing you projects with the theme of black and white and a pop of color. This is one of my favorite hops! I love to make black and white cards and add a pop of color. I chose Lovely Lipstick as my color pop and I used the split negative technique for the black and white portion.

I used my Stamparatus to get my image aligned just right because the two halves need to match. I stamped the large magnolia from the "Good Morning Magnolia" stamp set in Versamark Ink onto a quarter sheet of Basic Black Card Stock. I sprinkled on some White Stampin' Emboss Powder and set the image with my Heat Tool. I planned to do the same on a quarter sheet of Whisper White Card Stock using Black Stampin' Emboss Powder--but I'm all out! (How did that happen?!) Never fear, I have a PROTIP for you that you can use for any color.

I stamped the magnolia image in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto the Whisper White Card Stock and I quickly sprinkled on some Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder and then set it with my Heat Tool. That's right: my PROTIP is to use Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder with any color ink!

My next PROTIP is the "cheater" way to align the two halves of your split negative image. First, I trimmed the Basic Black piece to 3-7/8" by 5-1/8". Next, I cut the Whisper White image in half and matched the left side  (Whisper White) with the right side and adhered it on top of the Basic Black piece. I flipped this over and trimmed off the excess Whisper White. I adhered this piece to a 4" by 5-1/4" Lovely Lipstick Card Stock mat and then onto a Basic Black Card Stock card base.

I wanted to keep the split negative theme going so I stamped a sentiment from the "Country Home" stamp set in Versamark Ink onto Lovely Lipstick Card Stock. I sprinkled on White Stampin' Emboss Powder and set it with my Heat Tool. I stamped the same sentiment in Tuxedo Black Ink onto Lovely Lipstick Card Stock and used Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder to set it.  I fussy cut the different elements, adhered them together, and then used Mini Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment pieces to the card.

Finally, I colored three small Rhinestone Basic Jewels with a Light Lovely Lipstick Stampin' Blend and adhered them to the card. I hope you like it--and I hope you will try the split negative technique.

Bushel of Thanks

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   #ProtipTuesday   Today is the first day of fall, so you know what that means--bring out your sweaters and flannels, sip some mulled cider, take a nice walk in the cool air. I wish. Here in Maryland on the first day of fall it was in the mid 90's and humid. Yuck! Well, I can dream about fall until that crisp weather arrives. 

In the meantime, I have a fall card for you--with a little bit of "flannel" in the background (if you use your imagination). We made this card at a recent gathering of my Stampin' Up group, Proverbial Stampers & Friends. Well, we got the ingredients for this card, but I took my ingredients home and added a few things to step it up. I think my card turned out right cute.

I adhered a 3-3/4" by 5" Real Red checked Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper to a 4" by 5-1/4" Basic Black Card Stock mat. I wrapped a length of Real Red Cotton Ribbon around this before adhering everything to a Real Red Card Stock card base. Next, I added a 2" by 3-3/4" Basic Black Card Stock strip to the card and adhered Granny Apple Green apples to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. The apples are from the "Harvest Hellos" set in the Holiday Catalog. They're stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and punched out with the Apple Builder Punch.

I added a banner of "thanks" to my card. I cut a 1" strip of Whisper White Card Stock, stamped the sentiment from the "Good Morning Magnolia" set in Tuxedo Black Ink, and flagged the end with the Tailored Tag Punch. "What's that?" you ask! Yes, that's today's Protip! The Tailored Tag Punch can be used for flagging the ends of banners!

Hello & Good Morning!

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations  #ManicMonday   Need a card in a hurry? Stop by my blog every Monday because I'm sharing quick and cute cards for Manic Monday! (Check the Monday archives, too!) Today's card uses some DSP with my "standard" layout and minimal stamping.

My "standard" layout is a card base (naturally!), topped with a 4" by 5-1/4" card stock mat, topped with a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" main panel. This card's main panel is Whisper White Card Stock. I cut a 2-1/2" by 5-1/8" piece of floral Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper and a 1" by 5-1/8" piece of striped Magnolia Lane DSP. I adhered the pieces together and then adhered them to the Whisper White panel. I adhered that to a 4" by 5-1/4" Basic Black card stock mat and then onto a Petal Pink Card Stock card base.

Next, I stamped "hello" from the "Good Morning, Magnolia" stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a Whisper White Card Stock. I added a flower from the same set in Petal Pink. I punched this out with the Timeless Label Punch. I cut a stitched circle from Basic Black Card Stock with the medium-sized circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies. I adhered the label to the circle and them adhered the assembled pieces to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

To finish the card, I added a couple Frosted Epoxy Droplets. See? Quick and easy--a perfect card for a Manic Monday--or any time you need a card in a hurry.

Mosaic Thoughts

#stampinup   #faithfulinkspirations   #ThoughtfulThursday   I have a really pretty card to share with you for Thoughtful Thursday. I used the gorgeous Mosaic Mood Specialty Designer Series Paper in a special way--actually, I turned the Mosaic Mood DSP into mosaic tiles. Look at how it turned out!

I used one of the Stitched Nested Labels Dies to cut one of each of the patterns from the Mosaic Mood DSP. I arranged the "tiles" and adhered them to a 3-7/8" by 5-1/8" Very Vanilla Card Stock mat. You could use any color because it won't show on the final card. I cut off the overhanging pieces and then adhered the piece to a 4" by 5-1/4" Crush Curry Card Stock panel. I wrapped a length of Gold Metallic Edge Ribbon around before adhering everything to a Soft Suede Card Stock card base.

I stamped a sentiment from the "Good Morning Magnolia" stamp set in Soft Suede Ink onto Very Vanilla Card Stock and cut it out with the same size Stitched Nested Labels Die that I used to make the "tiles." I adhered the sentiment piece to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I think this card turned out nicely--I really loved using the Mosaic Mood DSP to make "tiles." I think that's an extra special effect. And it was easy-peasy, too! Bonus!
